Super Smash Bros Ultimate becomes fastest-selling Switch game in UK

Super Smash Bros Ultimate has set a new UK record as the fastest-selling Switch game.

In its first week on sale, it rocketed to the top of the games charts and outsold the previous fastest-selling Switch titles, the twin Pokemon: Let’s Go games, by ten per cent. Unsurprisingly, Super Smash Bros Ultimate’s opening sales figures were over 300 per cent higher than those of the Wii U and 3DS’s Super Smash Bros, and it also comfortably beat the Wii’s Super Smash Bros Brawl, making it officially the fastest-selling Super Smash Bros game of all time.

Those figures also pertain merely to physical copies of the game, with digital downloads yet to be taken into account. As we recently reported, Super Smash Bros Ultimate set a pre-sales record for the Switch. And the Switch itself has so far sold over 22.9 million units worldwide, a figure which looks likely to be boosted by a series of bundles over the Black Friday period, which also saw Mario Kart 8 Deluxe leap to number five in the latest games charts.
