Chris Kingsley, CTO and co-founder of Rebellion, has been awarded an OBE in the Queen’s New Year Honours List.
The honour puts him on an equal footing with his brother, Rebellion CEO Jason Kingsley, who was awarded an OBE in 2012. Chris Kingsley responded to the news: “I am greatly honoured and very grateful to have been made an OBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List. This honour represents a recognition of the achievements of Rebellion and perhaps more importantly, the entire UK video games development industry. I look forward to driving forward Rebellion, TIGA and the wider UK video games industry in the months and years to come.”
As well as being a leading light at Rebellion – among the biggest independent developers in the UK, and known for games like Aliens vs Predator, Sniper Elite and Strange Brigade, as well as for owning seminal sci-fi comic 2000AD – Chris Kingsley has performed a number of prominent roles in the UK games industry.
He is currently Chairman of TIGA’s Education Committee and Chair of the Games Council at ScreenSkills. The best way to keep up with Rebellion-related news is via the company’s blog.
