Capcom has revealed that it is dropping a Resident Evil 2 demo on Friday, but it’s not quite what you might expect…
The ‘1-shot’ demo will let you play the game for 30 minutes, but thats it. Yes, you’ll get half an hour to explore the Raccoon City Police Department as legendary rookie Leon S. Kennedy, but once your time is up you will not be able to restart.
However, there are a few ways to get a bit more playtime. Capcom says that if you beat the demo in under 30 minutes you can simply play through it again, with a similar situation if you end up zombie dinner.
The demo goes live on January 11 for PS4, Xbox One and PC (Steam), and you can pick it up via the respective store for each platform. At the end of the demo, a “brand new cinematic trailer” will be shown that is exclusive to the 1-shot demo. Despite the limited time of the gameplay, luckily you can watch the trailer as much as you want.
In terms of when the demo is set, it appears to be right at the start of the game, showing the “ultimate worst first day on the job” as Leon attempts to solve puzzles and aid survivors amidst a zombie outbreak in the police department.
This demo should tide you over until the game drops later this month on January 25 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
