Speedrun Charity Event Awesome Games Done Quick Raises $2.39 Million

Every year, speedrunners from around the globe gather in a hotel lobby to showcase their skills at Awesome Games Done Quick.

It’s a live-streamed event that celebrates gaming whilst raising gargantuan amounts of money for charity, and AGDQ 2019 has been no different.
Over the course of a week, a cool $2.39 million was raised for the Prevent Cancer Foundation, with many donating to share their stories, offer wisdom, or just celebrate the fact that some of their favourite games were being turned inside out by a crop of talented speedrunners.

The event started 9 years ago, way back in 2010 and has since raised upwards of $19 million for charity, an astounding feat that will no doubt change the lives of many, and help fund important cancer research.
If you couldn’t catch the Twitch stream, a smattering of the best speedruns from the event have been uploaded to the GamesDoneQuick YouTube Channel. Some highlights include the absolutely clinical TimeSplitters 2 Co-op run by Copitz and Swoodeasu, as well as the similarly surgical Trauma Center: Under the Knife 2 showcase by TrjnRabbit

If this has piqued your interest and you want to hop in and help raise money for charity next time, you won’t have to wait too long. Summer Games Done Quick is fast approaching and is set to kick off on June 23rd later this year.
