Monster Hunter World is approaching the 12 million-sales mark.
Capcom has revealed that, as of 31 December 2018, 11.9 million copies of the much-praised monster-hunting action-adventure game have been sold. That already makes it the most successful game in Capcom’s history (Resident Evil 5 is the company’s next most successful title, having shifted 7.4 million units).
The news marks a successful transition to consoles for the long-running franchise which, pre-Monster Hunter World, was mainly confined to handhelds. Overall, 53 million units of Monster Hunter games have been sold worldwide to date, since the first game was released in 2004.
On January 26, Monster Hunter World celebrated a year on sale; as we reported, its first major expansion, Iceborne, is due to arrive on an as-yet-unspecified date this autumn. For more Monster Hunter World news, you might want to watch its website.
