Halo Wars 2 took the game into the next generation, launching on Xbox One and PC in 2017. With improved cutscene animations and polished gameplay, Halo Wars 2 is the definitive standout of the two, but it’s still worth playing the forerunner for its solid story, even though it’s trapped in the confines of a strategy game.
