The team behind the original Earthworm Jim game are working on a follow-up, but don’t get your hopes up too much…
The project is being led by Tommy Tallarico who composed the original game, with a ragtag group of developers from the original release. However, it will launch exclusively on the Intellivision Amico, which is due to launch in 2020.
The project is set to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the absurd series, which launched on the Megadrive and the SNES in 1994.
More details will be revealed during a livestream simulcast that you can watch on YouTube this Saturday, May 4th. Hopefully, this will shed light on what features are coming to the new game and how it’s going to look on the Intellivision Amico.
Fans will also be able to pick up some signed art pieces and posters from the team during the stream too.
One point of note is the inclusion of Doug TenNapel, one member of the original development team who has been criticised in the past for making homophobic and transphobic comments.
We’re yet to get a good idea of just what the Intellivision Amico is going to be, and what other exclusives are on the way, but it’s pitching itself as a ‘family console’ and will feature no in-app purchases or DLC. If you’re interested, you can keep up with any news on the Intellivision facebook page.
