The latest game in the Ghost Recon series has been announced, and it’s a sequel to 2017’s Wildlands. It appears that the leaks were true, Ghost Recon Breakpoint will feature Jon Bernthal (of The Punisher fame) playing the main antagonist Cole D. Walker.
Cole has conquered the island of Aurora after betraying the Ghosts, and you play a crack team of agents out to dethrone him and his secret weapon, an army of deadly drones.
You might remember Cole from the recent free DLC for Wildlands where he masqueraded as a good guy before turning heel and betraying your team. Typical.
The ghosts will face off against his mercenaries, “The Wolves” who are hunting you through jungle and snow amongst other biomes. New to Ghost Recon Breakpoint is the bivouac system, a military survival feature that affords co-op players a secure base to craft, alter skills and buff themselves when things get precarious.
As well as PVP baked in at launch, the game is also set to have a solid endgame and apparently, co-op raids! It sounds like an interesting hybrid between Wildlands and a more focused MMO shooter like Destiny.
I’m sure we’ll hear more as Ubisoft prepares for its bumper E3 presentation on June 10 ahead of Breakpoint’s release on October 4 for PC, Xbox One and PS4.
