Despite the fact that the game is out tomorrow, we don’t really know that much about the narrative of Rage 2. What we do know though is that it’s going to be a neon cacophony of chaos. So they gave us the Rage 2 launch trailer to hopefully answer some questions.
The launch trailer for the game indulges the mutilating madness of the game, taking us on a whistlestop tour through the game from the ending right through to the initial inception of the universe.
We’re not kidding on that one, it has to be seen to be believed. The Rage 2 launch trailer introduces us to the armor-clad General Cross, who appears to be the main antagonist of the game described as a “giant cyborg asshole.”
As the tape rewinds, we’re treated to a myriad of explosions, with some new locations and characters we haven’t seen before, from a Guy Fieri lookalike named Klegg to some kind of mutant-riding sage.
Whatever the weather, it looks ridiculous, and doubles down on the absurdity we’ve seen since the game was announced (or leaked via Walmart Canada) prior to last years E3.
The trailer even lampoons the underwhelming ending to the first game and takes us through the process of purchase for the trailer’s narrator, who goes too far back, predating his birth and the inception of the universe.
We even get a glimpse at some Tardigrades before we cut to a short clip of a giant worm erupting from the ground, ready to battle the player character. WHAT.
It’s a good laugh but still keeps some cards close to its chest ahead of its release. If you’re keen to jump into the neon post-apocalypse, you can pick up Rage 2 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC from tomorrow, May 14th.
