Despite stumbling at launch and not receiving the universal acclaim of its predecessors, The Sims 4 has since blossomed into a wonderful game and now stands tall as the ‘ultimate’ sims experience with its feature-filled add-ons.
If you’re still puttering about The Sims 2 or 3 with your nostalgia goggles on, perhaps it’s time for an upgrade. Well luckily for you, EA has made the game free on Origin.
The offer started yesterday, May 21st and will run for one week until May 28th, meaning there’s plenty of time to pick it up and tell all of your friends.
Most recently the game received an update adding the ability to play the game as a freelancer.
If you don’t play on PC, it might be worth checking out the PS4 and Xbox One ports of the game that dropped in late 2017 and offer the same in-depth experience on home consoles.
In any case, you’re going to want to head over to Origin and redeem this offer. Even if you aren’t going to play it right away, The Sims 4 is well worth adding to your library just in case you want to try something unique later down the line.
You could argue that this move is quite out of the blue for EA, but hey, you never know, we could see something Sims related at EA Play at E3 this June. The fourth game came out in 2014, meaning there’s been ample time for a sequel to be in the works.
The game also has a flourishing mod community if you’d like to get involved that way, with tons of customisation options and new character aesthetics to keep up with modern fashion trends. There’s never been a better time to jump in.
