Bandai Namco unveils new One Punch Man game

One Punch Man A hero Nobody Knows

Bandai Namco has announced that it will publish One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows, which is being developed by Spike Chunsoft.

One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows will be the first ideovgame based on the eponymous manga franchise. Bandai Namco described it thus: “One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows is an action fighting game set in a universe where threats are daily occurrences and heroes the sole hope against annihilation. Saitama, the main protagonist, is a hero who can decimate even the strongest foes with a single punch, a situation that troubles him no end. The game will feature 3 vs. 3 battles, where players can form powerful teams using many familiar and fan-favourite faces; the first of the many confirmed playable characters being Genos, Fubuki, Mumen Rider, Sonic and last but not least, our titular One Punch Man Saitama.”

Herve Hoerdt, Bandai Namco Europe’s Senior VP of Marketing, Digital and Content, said: “One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows is not only a great way to jump into the One Punch Man universe. Fans of the series can play as some of their favourite characters of the series in exciting 3 vs. 3 battles.”

One Punch Man is a relatively recent addition to the canon of Japanese anime: it first appeared on the web in 2012, and two TV series based on the franchise came out in 2016 and earlier this year. It tells the story of Saitama, a superhero so strong that he can deal with enemies using just one punch, but who develops an existential crisis due to being so powerful.

As yet, few details have emerged surrounding One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows. Bandai Namco said it will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, but has not yet specified a release date. Spike Chunsoft developed Bandai Namco’s recently released Jump Force, and its past successes include the Dragon Quest and Danganronpa games.
