The existence of a PC port for Red Dead Redemption 2 has been teased once more thanks to some sneaky source code in Rockstar’s ‘Social Club’ online service.
Discovered by Twitter sleuth @JakoMako51– the post proclaims “The fact that Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming to PC is now quite evident” alongside a screencap of some source code from the social club website.
Whilst you may be wondering how this could point to anything substantial – note the string circled in green ‘RDR2_PC_Accomplishments.’
If you’ve played GTA V on PC (or any social club Rockstar game for that matter) you’ll know that Accomplishments are the substitute for Xbox Achievements or PlayStation Trophies on the platform
Whilst Rockstar is yet to say anything official about a PC port for its gargantuan open-world epic, it’s pretty much a shoo-in given its popularity, and the existence of Red Dead Online, which will no doubt flourish like GTA Online when it lands on the platform.
We know that Rockstar has some sort of unannounced collaboration in the works with Google Stadia – perhaps Red Dead 2 could make its PC debut on a streaming platform? We can’t be sure at this point, but after last years data mining unveiled similar PC-related strings, you can count on Red Dead Redemption 2 coming to PC in the near future.
How close is anyone’s guess, but hopefully we should hear more about it from Rockstar in the coming months. The game would be a natural fit for PC given the unlocked graphical capabilities – ray-tracing and more could really make the vibrant world pop.
