Mordhau developers Triternion posted their July Development Update which has given some information about the direction the multiplayer medieval game will take. Chief amongst these is the promise of new maps – fully-fledged maps that’ll be playable across all modes.

Speaking about the incoming maps, Mordhau community manager Jax had this to say: “Feitoria is a sprawling town and accompanying village that will alternate between crowded streets, chokepoints, and more open areas and will have an emphasis on verticality and interiors as well. Currently, progress is going well on Feitoria, and our level designer is working on optimization, interior/background polish, and configuring the map for game modes.”

“Castello on the other hand, is a southern-European/ Mediterranean inspired castle keep and walled courtyards. It will have a similar feel to Grad, but with a more involved castle section, including portcullis control and close-quarters fighting. At the moment, Casello has begun its final art pass, along with some fine-tuning of the lighting and post-process effects.”

The new maps are taking priority for the team right now, with other updates in the works. Ranked play is incoming with distinct ranks achievable by high-skilled players. Five ranks, made up of six tiers, is all on the way for Mordhau.

In addition to ranks, a 64 player attack/defend mode is being worked on. Developers Triternion state that this intends to capture the feel of a medieval battle, with sieging and progressive objectives. Currently this mode is titled ‘Invasion’ and is in the early stages of being integrated into the game.

Alongside these major updates, a variety of gameplay, quality of life, and balance updates have been announced, taking on player feedback to adjust the core of the game. You can read more about these here.

Finally, the July Development Update promises that mod support is being looked at, however, at this time other updates are taking priority. For now, you can keep up to date on everything Mordhau by making sure you check our Newsroom, where we’ll have the latest Mordhau updates, news, and more.
