Gamescom is the world’s largest gaming event, filling the streets of Cologne, Germany, with thousands of gamers all hungry for one thing: games. Of course publishers and developers have cottoned onto this, so it’s understandable that there’d be one or two announcements, especially during the opening ceremonies.
Here’s the best of what has been announced at Gamescom 2019.
We got six more minutes of gameplay, six minutes of Reedus, weeing, baby, ladders, Geoff Keighley? Yep, it’s Death Standing and still no-one knows what’s going on with it.
Kerbal Space Program 2
With a truly wonderful cinematic trailer, Kerbal Space Program 2 was announced. We don’t have much info about how the game will play or what’ll be new in it, but space stations and building off-planet bases seem to be key to the sequel.
Only a whisper of Cyberpunk 2077 footage this time around, but the announcement for the upcoming game is that it’s coming to Stadia.
Need for Speed Heat
This was announced just a few short days ago, but we got our first look at some more of the latest in the meaty racer game, set in sunny Florida.
Little Nightmares II
Unsettling but beautiful, the original was a surprise hit, and the sequel looks like it’ll be taking all that wonderful imagination onto a new level.
The Witcher 3
Or rather the Switcher 3, as the game’s coming to Switch. You know it, you love it, it’s the same game but on the best handheld console ever.
Gears 5 is coming very soon, and Microsoft showed off a little more of the Horde mode, which sees four players fight against waves of oncoming enemies in a race for survival.
That’s opening night done, a lot to get through and there may be more on the way. We’ll be watching Gamescom with beady eyes and even there ourselves, so make sure you keep checking back as we’ll have the latest news this week from Cologne.
