The latest in the Call of Duty series, titled Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, is set for an October 25th release. The trailer has dropped today, and you can check it out right here:
The trailer focuses on the campaign at the heart of the new game, which you can dive into with a bit more detail in their previous story trailer, and some familiar faces are making their return to the Call of Duty series.
It’s worth remembering that though this game may share some characters and may share a name with the previous Modern Warfare games, it is intended as a reboot of that subtitle. With nearly eight years passing since the last Modern Warfare game, it’s definitely time for a rethink.
The game will have a single player mode as well as the usual array of multiplayer and co-op modes, returning to the formula that made Call of Duty a perennial install for many players after the multiplayer only Black Ops 4. A new feature, however, is that the game will have true crossplay across PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, meaning you can play with your friends even if they don’t have a rig powerful enough to join in on PC.
With a new engine, some new game modes, twists on old game modes, and a return to some of the gameplay features that Call of Duty fans have been crying out for, it’s looking like it might be a rosy time for both Activision Blizzard and Call of Duty players. Even more exciting for avid Call of Duty fans, there’s no plans for a season pass, meaning post-release content is going to be free.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be released on the 25th of October, 2019, on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
