Pester is the remake of a Commodore 64 Shoot'em up game. As usual, you pilot a tiny spaceship and must blast your way through the levels, flying across the vertical scrolling, dodging bullets and shooting everything in sight. It might seem basic or simplistic but actually it's the game's best feature. This oldschool shooter doesn't have a complex gameplay or strange mechanics like Ikaruga. It's just simple to understand and fun to play. However, the visuals could have been a little better. Like Super Killer Hornet from the same studio, Pester looks a bit dull compared to other shoot'em up where there are explosions and projectiles all over the screen. But it's a not a problem at all. Pester runs well and is fun to play. Nothing else is necessary.
So first of all, this game is great, but how come the price here is higher than steam shop? This game from Flump Studios, has slightly lower production value than their other products, which is explained in the description of the game saying it's their first ever product, or rather I should say "his" first ever product adapted to PC from the original XBox release. Anyway, about the game itself, it is a very simple bullet hell side scroller SHMUP. It's quite challenging, as is to be expected from that genre. The soundtrack is very arcade-y. This game will offer you a few hours of challenging fun. The only issue I have with it, is that it costs 99 cents on Steam, but it's 3$ here. I do not understand why, and therefore not sure I can recommend it until that is fixed.
