“You know what I really love about violence? Dealing with the consequences! That’s why I’m so excited to see that Viscera Cleanup Detail, the space station janitor simulation, is now available on Steam Early Access.”
“By setting its mundane stall in the days after events that would be taken oh-so-seriously in another game, Viscera Cleanup Detail manages to be morbidly hilarious without ever telling a single joke.”
Disaster! An alien invasion and subsequent infestation have decimated this facility. Many lives were lost, the facility was ruined and the aliens were unstoppable. All hope was lost until one survivor found the courage to fight back and put the aliens in their place!
It was a long and horrific battle as the survivor dueled with all manner of terrifying life-forms and alien mutations, but our hero won out in the end and destroyed the alien menace! Humanity was saved!
Unfortunately, the alien infestation and the heroic efforts of the courageous survivors have left rather a mess throughout the facility. As the janitor, it is your duty to get this place cleaned up.
So grab your mop and roll up your sleeves, this is gonna be one messy job.
Today, you're on Viscera Cleanup Detail!
Buying Viscera Cleanup Detail also gets you our spin-off titles, 'VCD: Shadow Warrior' and 'Santa's Rampage' free! Santa's Rampage comes included in the main game download AND as a standalone copy you can use to connect with others who only own Santa's Rampage.

Did you play DOOM when it was released in the 90s? What about the original Half-Life or Unreal? Did you ever wonder who the heck's gonna clean up after these heroes? The answer has finally been provided by the developers of VCD, and the answer --- is you. There is no story. There is you. There is a mop. There is a bucket of water. You have no idea who is responsible for the carnage; you only know it's your task to clean up after it. For such a strange idea for a game, the developers have really outdone themselves in my opinion. They have taken an idea that likely only tugs at the corner of the minds of .01% of the total FPS-gaming population and made a game out of it. They've made a game that seems incredibly boring actually fun. As a Janitor for the Viscera Cleanup Detail company, each facility you visit must be painstakingly mopped; all the trash must be picked up; and all the body parts must be incinerated. How you complete this task is up to you, but that facility had better be spotless when your supervisors arrive, or you risk losing your job (and that's actually an achievement). After completing a facility, you return to your "office," and can read reports on your progress. These reports vary from employee commendations to tongue-in-cheek company newsletters, and really add to the experience. You are also able to take "trophies" with you should you so choose by placing them in the blue trunk that you take with you to each job. People who don't enjoy ironic humor, or never played an FPS, should stay well away. But if you love watching the gibs fly on any contemporary FPS game; or even enjoyed the pixelated trips down Memory Lane of DOOM or Duke Nukem 3D; or even the bump-mapped polygons of Unreal and Half-Life, this is a must-have in your collection. You already blew the place to smithereens; didn't you mom teach you pick up after yourself?
Viscera Cleanup Detail is one of the funniest coop game I have played since I play Portal 2 with a friend to mine. If you have a few friends to play with (that also don't have OCD) this is a game I can easily recommend. Be aware that this game will cause some frustrating moments and you maybe will lose a friend or two.
Viscera Cleanup Detail answers the question, "Who cleans up the messes people leave in movies and video games when the action stops?". It's a cute game that is one note, but it's a fun one. In Viscera Cleanup Detail, there is only one goal: clean up everything. This ranges from bullet holes to blood splatters to body parts, and perhaps a few surprises. Everything that you need to clean uses a different tool and technique, and you need to pay attention so you don't make the mess worse. Viscera Cleanup Detail is a good game to wind down with after a particularly long and difficult game, especially if you have any friends to join you.
Viscera Cleanup Detail is a game with an unusal premise, once the mass murder spree, that you would normally be a part of or committing in a video game, is over with, someone needs to clean up all of that mess and put the place back in order. In this game that someone is you. You take on the role of a janitor who has to mop up all the blood, remove the bodies/body parts by buring them, clean the windows, and whatever other traces were left behind of recent acitivites. As you clean up the place you might find messages left behind that will help you piece together what might have happened in the area before you showed up. There are different easter eggs and unique objects that can be found in the games wide variety of maps. Instead of cleaning you can also attempt to leave an even bigger mess behind by throwing body parts around and wiping clean floors and walls with your now blood covered mop. It's an enjoyable and unique game that has gotten good support and it is worth a look if it sounds interesting to you.
