What We Know About Battlefield 1

Battlefield 1 | What We Know

Battlefield 1 is just around the corner, and we’re so, so excited for this new take on World War 1 from the lovely folks at EA. This time, we’re not going for a look at Modern Warfare, we’ve been transported back to a world that we’ve never seen before. Battlefield’s trademark huge battles, paired with an alternate universe WWI setting means that we get to view The Great War under a lens that was never previously possible.

The game itself runs on the Frostbite Engine, which is also being used in Mass Effect: Andromeda and has also previously been used in Star Wars: Battlefront! This pretty much guarantees that we’ll see some great visuals from the new entry in this iconic franchise.

Aside from the fancy new visuals, the setting allows us to see even more from vehicles, which includes fighting on Horseback with some old-school sabers. This is in addition to the slew of new weapons that we’ll be seeing from that era that have never been featured in any other previous Battlefield games. Expect nasty things like flamethrowers, Mustard Gas, Bolt-Action Rifles and even more!

The campaign mode is also fully featured, with a well-crafted narrative and cut-scenes in addition to a more open approach to levels than previous entries in the series. to compliment the gargantuan multiplayer offering that the Battlefield series is so well-known for.

To fully capture the experience of being in WWI, the multiplayer modes are able to support large-scale clashes of up to 64 players, meaning that you might want to keep your friends close for this one. Sticking pencils and putting your pants on your head won’t get you far in this game, you’re going to have to stick to your guns and fight for your life in this merciless war.

We can’t be more excited for Battlefield 1, and that shows in how others have responded to the game. The hype is real, the hype is here and Battlefield 1 is bound to blow all of our socks off!
