Team17 and Playtonic Games have announced that Yooka-Laylee will be getting a competitive multiplayer and co-op modes when the game launches on the 11th of April 2017.
Yooka-Laylee will feature eight unique multiplayer arcade mini games. These can be found in Rextro’s arcade. Rextro is a t-rex who loves nostalgia and retro gaming.
Players will be able to take on these arcade style games either solo for a high score on the leader board or they can engage in local co-op for up to four players. Five of the eight arcade games are listed below.
- Glaciators Brawler Arena – try and collect the most quills as possible
- Kartos Karting – race your friends to the finish line
- Blag the Flag – capture the flag style game
- Gun-let – a shooter for up to four players to blast away the enemies
- Hurdle Hijinx – transverse and obstacle course against your friends
- Plus many more
Players are also encouraged to find and collect coins hidden within the games single player in order to “power up the arcade cabinets located within the mysterious book worlds for a chance to win some sought-after pagies!”
Yookay-Laylee will also give a second player the opportunity to jump into the single player campaign, It’s as simple as plugging in a second controller and joining the fun! Player two will be in control of the ‘Bee Team’ and will be able to grab quills and collect butterflies to help Yooka and Laylee out should they find themselves in a sticky situation. They will also be able to stop traps to help player one transverse obstacles.
