It has been confirmed by producer Katsuhiro Harada that Roger the Boxing Kangaroo from the Tekken series will not feature in Tekken 7.
Hadara confirmed this whilst speaking to VG247, he told the site that a viral video of the man who punched a kangaroo in the face was the reason they have taken Roger out. “There was a video of a man’s dog being headlocked by a kangaroo, and he punched it in the face. It turned into a big problem,” he said. “People were complaining about him punching a kangaroo.”
Hadara then went on to say that are more “animal activists” today than there ever used to be. Although these activists may not play Tekken 7 the producer said that they “would still hear about that,” and “would complain about it,” so it was best to leave Roger out of the game.
Tekken 7 will feature Kuma, a fighting bear who has been in the series since the first game. Hadara confirmed he is still in the game because bears are “obviously stronger than a human being.” Hadara also confirmed on Twitter that PETA have not come to Bandai Namco with concerns. Instead the producer confirmed that the company has “worries” about potential outcry from the organisation. The tweet can be seen below.
Huh? PETA has not said anything. And I said we've worries. What are you talking about.
