In a post on the Overwatch forums, well-known game director Jeff Kaplan made a statement about how difficult it was for his team to interact with the community in a constructive way, “Overall, the community is awesome to us. But there are some pretty mean people out there, all of our developers are free to post on these forums. Very few of us actually do because it’s extremely intimidating and/or time consuming.”

This came in response to a large thread asking if the Overwatch team was simply too small to deal with the demand of content and balancing from the community, as well as accusations being thrown at the developers of being lazy or too focused on esports.
