Microsoft has announced that a closed beta for Sea of Thieves will run between 24 and 28 January.
Rare Software’s Xbox One-exclusive multiplayer pirate-life simulator is one of the most anticipated games of 2018, and its closed beta is expected to be extremely popular. It will begin at 12pm on January 24 and close at 8pm on January 28.
Microsoft says that those who participate in the closed beta won’t experience the full game, but: “Rare has crafted a bespoke experience for Closed Beta players that offers a true taste of what Sea of Thieves has to offer. They won’t be testing the full game during this Closed Beta phase to keep a good selection of things up their sleeves for players to discover at launch.”
Sea of Thieves’ closed beta will be open to anyone who joined the game’s Insider Programme before 1 December 2017, as well as anyone who has pre-ordered the game. The official website gives more details.
Sea of Thieves is on track to go on sale on March 20. If you’re keen to get a taste of what the game is all about, here’s a video showing an hour’s of worth of gameplay by the developers.
