Rumours that a new Crash Bandicoot game will come out in 2019 have been fuelled by a merchandising retailer.

In the Licensing Source Book Europe magazine, Max Arguile, Licensing Manager of merchandising company GB eye, picked out Crash Bandicoot: N.Sane Trilogy as a merchandising success in 2017 and added: “The new game was a huge success at retail with no marketing spend. Next year it will be going broader (Switch and PC) and there will be another game in 2019.”

As yet, Activision hasn’t confirmed that Crash Bandicoot: N.Sane Trilogy is even coming to any platform other than the PlayStation 4 (on which it arrived in June 2017) – it’s a timed exclusive, so it would make sense if versions for other consoles (especially the Switch, to which it seems particularly well suited) are planned for June 2018 and beyond.

Neither has Activision said anything about developing a new game in the much-loved platform franchise. It must be a possibility, however, given that N.Sane Trilogy shifted over 2.5 million copies on the PlayStation 4 alone. Let’s keep our fingers crossed; we’ll keep you posted with further concrete developments.
