PUBG PC test server update brings new weapon skins system, crate types

Player Unknown's Battlegrounds

The latest update to the test servers of the PC version of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has introduced a new weapons skins system plus two new types of loot crates.

As detailed here, the update to the hugely popular Battle Royale game comes as part of a test move towards region-specific servers, and has been applied to those servers rather than the live ones at the moment. Developer PUBG Corp said: “After the updates made to this test build are proven to be stable, they will be applied to the live servers. We will announce the timeline for the live server update soon.”

In the meantime, players with access to the test servers can preview the game’s new weapons skin system, which is fairly self-explanatory, allowing them to acquire new skins for their weapons via two new types of loot crates. The first of those crate-types, called Raider, is free and non-random, whereas Triumph crates, which are random, will drop weekly and can only be unlocked using a paid-for Weapon Skin Key.

The test server update also addresses a couple of minor bugs. We’ll let you know when it makes its way onto the live servers.
