Minecraft Bedrock Edition and award-winning 2D RPG The Banner Saga are coming to Nintendo’s Switch.

Minecraft Bedrock Edition will land on Nintendo’s hit console on an as-yet unspecified day this June, while the Switch version of The Banner Saga will get a 17 May release.

Although Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition has been available for a while, the Bedrock Edition will supplant it as the definitive version of the game for the Switch. According to Nintendo: “This Bedrock version of the game contains all the great previously released content, including the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack exclusive to Nintendo systems and all DLC, but now allows players to connect with friends on non-Nintendo systems via cross-platform play. In addition, Minecraft will support the Nintendo Switch Online paid membership when it launches in September. A new in-game store in this version of Minecraft called the Minecraft Marketplace will let players obtain community-created content like skins, worlds and textures for their Minecraft World using MINECOINs, a new virtual in-game currency. Players will also gain access to new mini-games and game modes through online community-run servers.”

And Nintendo has good news for those who already own Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition: “Players who already own the Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition game will be able to download this definitive version free of charge so they can easily upgrade and enjoy all the added features.”

Meanwhile, Steve Escalante, General Manager of The Banner Saga developer Versus Evil, said: “Launching The Banner Saga on Nintendo Switch is an exciting moment for us; as we gear up in 2018 to enter the third and final chapter of the series, it’s only fitting we give Nintendo players an opportunity to enjoy this award-winning Viking inspired saga where the journey begins.” If you’re in search of further information, you might want to visit The Banner Saga’s official website.
