Developer Drinkbox Studios has announced that Guacamelee! 2 will be released on August 21, 2018 for PlayStation 4 and PC.
Drinkbox says that the second iteration of the cult-favourite Mexican-themed Metroidvania-style platform-brawler: “Expands upon the original game by introducing new levels, enemies, characters, and gameplay mechanics for the ultimate high-flying luchador experience.” Concept Lead Augusto Quijano adds: “We asked our inner skeletons what we should do for Guac 2. We couldn’t decide whether to add Better Moves, More Interesting Platforming, Timeline Travel, Chicken Powers, or New Puns, so we added it all!”
Among the new game’s highlights, as selected by Drinkbox Studios, are a selection of new moves including Eagle Boost, Rocket Kick and Pollo Shot; Super Chicken, which is a: “Unique set of new abilities and moves for Juan’s chicken form”; four-player local co-op; and a new upgrade system which Drinkbox describes thus: “Discover “trainers” from around the world, defeat their challenges, and upgrade your movement, combat, traversal, and more.”
