Publisher Koch Media (now merged with THQ Nordic) has acquired the rights to the TimeSplitters and Second Sight franchises.
The move raises hopes that Free Radical Design’s much-loved early 2000s first-person shooter and action-adventure franchises will make an unlikely comeback. Koch Media’s CEO Klemens Kundratitz said: “We are hugely excited to have acquired TimeSplitters. The original games gave fans a massive content offer and provided a pure and genuinely fun arcade shooter experience. We have many fans of the Timesplitters series among our own staff who are passionate about creating a product that will thrill todays gaming audience.”
Koch Media has already stated that any new TimeSplitters games will be published under its Deep Silver brand, as will any new Second Sight games. Koch Media said: “Full details of future TimeSplitters and Second Sight products will be revealed in due course.” But it’s fair to say that, having just acquired the intellectual property rights, it will take the company a while to get new TimeSplitters and Second Sight games into development. In the meantime, you might want to watch the Koch Media and Deep Silver websites.
