Somehow, there’s even more news about Star Wars games to report on, courtesy of the Star Wars Celebration event that occurred in Chicago this passing weekend.
During an interview between host Anthony Carboni and Skywalker Sound’s Matthew Wood, Wood starts talking about the projects he is working on in 2019.
As supervising sound editor, he must be quite high up the chain, and after a few titles he says that “There’s a Lego Star Wars game we’re working on.”
Now, this is the first we’ve heard of a new Lego Star Wars title, so it appears Wood slipped up by mentioning it.
It does make sense though. We saw a Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but The Last Jedi did not receive the same treatment. There’s also been Solo and Rogue One since then.
Perhaps the guys at TT are waiting for the full trilogy to conclude with Rise of The Skywalker before they drop an all-encompassing Lego Star Wars game.
This theory is corroborated by Eurogamer’s reporting on the topic, where they mention that they’ve “heard word of the title from sources close to its production,” later suggesting that it will be the “ultimate Lego Star Wars game.”
This is great news for fans of the wholesome brick-based series, and, if Wood’s comments are anything to go by, it could be out later this year!
