The pre-E3 leak season has entered full swing with the news that Fable IV is in the works, as has long been suspected.
According to the leak – hastily taken down, as ever, but reproduced here on Reddit, Fable IV is not only in development but promises to play in a radically different manner to previous Fable games.
The leak goes into particular detail regarding Fable IV’s storyline: “Albion and Aurora are gone. “Lands reduced to fables.” The Spire was rebuilt and used by a mad king to wish that an asteroid would strike the planet. He also wished it would happen again in the far future. Eons later and everything is new (medieval themed, new continents) and you have to stop the destruction of the planet again. Theresa and a Heroes Guild are preserved on another planet via a demon door. Time Travel heavily involved in play. Jack of Blades returns.”
So Fable IV will take place on different planets and across different eras, and the Spire, which was central to Fable 2, will feature heavily. The leak also revealed that players will be able to build entire towns (a logical next step after the previous games’ house-buying and renting systems) and that there will be no guns in the game (which also makes sense given that Fable IV looks set to return the beloved RPG franchise to its mediaeval roots).
The leak also promises the game will have a multiplayer element, that it will be set in a completely open world and that we will be able to completely ignore the main storyline should we so wish. No doubt full Fable IV disclosure will take place at Microsoft’s forthcoming E3 press conference, scheduled to take place on Sunday June 9 at 1pm Pacific Time, which will be 9pm BST.
