The Outer Worlds is rapidly approaching release, and to celebrate the latest Obsidian RPG’s launch the company have posted a new trailer up on YouTube.
There’s a lot to unpack in its under two minutes, but the main gist of the trailer revolves around player choice about who you want to roleplay as in the game. Will you be a hero or villain, how will you approach combat, how will you approach situations with NPCs? These questions appear to be at the core of The Outer Worlds and the answers the player chooses will define not only their character but the larger plot and the worlds the player travels across.
In addition we got to see a little bit more of the game, from colossal beasts trying to destroy you, to a more subtle approach where the player changes appearance to presumably blend in with a faction. We even got a glimpse of a nice little moment of peace in a cafe, a respite from the chaos the player is presumably causing.
Overall it’s looking like a colourful and more fluid take on the RPG from the masters of the craft. Obsidian are, of course, the creators of fan-favourite Fallout: New Vegas and The Outer Worlds looks at first glance to be a similar game, but with more options and the combat definitely appears to be a lot more fluid and tactical compared to the venerable Fallout entry.
If you want more of The Outer Worlds ahead of its launch you can check out twenty minutes of gameplay footage released earlier in the year in September.
The Outer Worlds will release on the 25th of October, 2019 for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 with a Nintendo Switch version arriving at a later point.
