This week we saw some top game announcements including a AAA Half-Life game for VR. But most importantly we got our first look at the nominations for the 2019 Game awards.
Path of Exile 2 announced
Path of Exile 2, first and foremost, isn’t going to be a separate game. It will instead will be an expansion that adds new content, but also overhauls the original game as well. Core systems that make up the game will be overhauled including the mechanics of each of the game’s classes, along with graphical upgrades that incorporate physics-based rendering. Full Article.
Google Stadia adds 10 more games to its launch lineup
Vice President at Google and General Manager of Stadia, Phil Harrison, admitted that they “were perhaps a little conservative in our forecast last week and (most importantly) our partners did an awesome job getting last few kinks ironed out and through testing.”
The 10 games added include:
- Attack on Titan: Final Battle 2
- Farming Simulator 2019
- Final Fantasy XV
- Football Manager 2020
- Grid 2019
- Metro Exodus
- NBA 2K20
- Rage 2
- Trials Rising
- Wolfenstein: Youngblood
The Game Awards 2019 nominations are announced
Geoff Keighley and friends are nearly back for another year of celebrating the world of games with their own awards ceremony. Last night the contenders in each category were announced, letting us know who’s in the running for top awards. The nominees were chosen by a jury made up of 80 media and influencer outlets worldwide, and they cover a cross-section of the games released this year. Full Article.
Rainbow Six: Siege Money Heist Crossover and Free Weekend
The Spanish Netflix series ‘La Casa de Papel’, known also as Money Heist, is a crime programme revolving around a plan to pull off a colossal heist in Spain’s Royal Mint. With distinctive red outfits and Salvador Dali masks, it’s been a hit worldwide. So it makes sense that Ubisoft and Netflix have teamed up with a crossover event featuring a hostage dressed like one of the robbers from Money Heist, with Defenders holding them in the game’s Bank map. Valve reveal VR-Exclusive Half-Life Prequel, Half-Life: Alyx
If the trailer is anything to go by, it looks like her dad Eli Vance has been captured (once again…) and you’ll have to press through a Combine-occupied City 17 to retrieve him. The game has been in development for years now and it looks to fully utilize Valve’s Index headset hardware, including the impressive Knuckles controllers that offer specific finger-tracking. You can see the haptic animations in the trailer as Alyx Vance brushes past paraphernalia on a wooden shelf to grab some ammo. Full Article.
