The Twin Peaks-inspired single-player action adventure Control has finally received a release date.
It is Remedy’s latest, where you star as Jesse Faden, director of the Federal Bureau of Control, a supernatural force capable of environment manipulation.
Remedy has been responsible for some of the most compelling and narrative-rich stories in gaming, from Max Payne to Alan Wake, not to mention the deeply underrated Quantum Break.
It looks stunning and lucky for all of us, it’s coming fairly soon! The game will launch on August 27th for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Unfortunately, this was leaked yesterday, but Remedy only confirmed the news today.
When I spoke to the director at Gamescom, he told me the game was inspired by cinema and TV like True Detective and Twin Peaks and teased the game’s supernatural mechanics. It looks like everything is not as it seems, with multiple secrets hiding in every corner of the mysterious ‘Oldest House.’
Hopefully, we’ll hear more and see some gameplay before it drops later this year. Perhaps there’ll be something at E3 2019 this June!
