Publisher PlayStack has announced that Doctor Who: The Edge of Time will be released on 12 November 2019.
The feature-length VR game developed by Maze Theory, based on the evergreen BBC TV series, will be playable via the PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift, Oculus Quest, HTC Vive and HTC Vive Cosmos headsets. You can check out its Steam Store page.
PlayStack described Doctor Who: The Edge Of Time thus: “With multiple references to the series and its 55-year history, Doctor Who: The Edge of Time combines action, adventure and sci-fi, equipping players with the Sonic Screwdriver to solve mind-bending puzzles, escape treacherous environments and come face-to-face with classic Doctor Who monsters, all within virtual reality. Escape from Weeping Angels, face off against brand-new creatures and pilot a Dalek shell to harness its fearsome weaponry in a thrilling and immersive single-player adventure!”
Among the talent from the TV series featured in The Edge of Time are Jodie Whittaker, who provided the voice of the Doctor and Nicholas Briggs, who voiced the Daleks. The Edge of Time’s writer is Gavin Collinson, Doctor Who’s Digital Producer at the BBC, who has written several Doctor Who books.
Developer Maze Theory features several Activision and Sony PlayStation UK veterans, and has collaborated closely with BBC Studios on Doctor Who: The Edge of Time. To find out more, visit The Edge of Time’s website.
