Each year the FIFA series aims to build upon the previous installment by bringing new features, teams, leagues and players to the game. FIFA 22 is no different, with a number of new icons being added to the game as well as some new leagues and teams to play as. This year’s biggest new feature is arguably the new Hypermotion technology, which allows the gameplay to feel even more real and immersive. Let’s take a look at all FIFA 22 new features.
FIFA 22 New Leagues & Teams
This year has seen the addition of the Hero Indian Super League to the FIFA 22 new leagues rosta. Additionally, some new women’s international teams have been added, with Belgium and Portugal joining the ranks. Furthermore, FIFA 22 has added APOEL, Ferencvárosi, Hajduk Split, and Wrexham as playable teams, with the latter being added presumably due the sudden fame cast on the club as a result of the new owners, Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds.
FIFA 22 New Icons
Perhaps one of the biggest interests to FIFA players is who will be joining the FIFA 22 new icons list. This year sees the addition of a couple of Premier League legends; Wayne Rooney has been added with a highest rating of 91, and Robin Van Persie is another new addition with a highest rating of 91.
Outside of the Premier League legends we have Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas, with 92 as his highest rating, plus Brazilian Full Back Cafu with a highest rating of 93.
FIFA 22 Hypermotion and Other New Features
FIFA 22 Hypermotion is definitely the biggest new feature, and will no doubt be the one that is most scrutinised as EA have been talking it up quite a lot. But what is Hypermotion? Well, EA have used Xsens motion capture suits to gather info from 22 professional footballers. This has helped them obtain an unprecedented amount of high-quality information on movement, passing, shooting and more.
The implementation of Hypermotion in FIFA 22 allows for better AI in attack and defense. AI players will read the game and the flow of a match, making them feel more like a unit as they move. It also allows for better one-on-one competition, such as aerial battles, jostling for control of the ball and more. All of this helps to make FIFA 22 feel more natural and realistic as you play.
Unfortunately, Hypermotion is only available on the next-gen consoles Xbox One S/X and PS5. This means that PC players and last-gen console players will be without this advancement for this year’s game.
Other FIFA 22 new features include Division Rivals in Ultimate Team, where you will climb through new ranks, stages and divisions, earning new weekly and seasonal rewards as you do. VOLTA Football has also implemented a new skill meter, allowing you to really show off your flair with new skill moves, passes and more.
FIFA 22 is brimming with new content, whether you want to play with friends, other players around the world or if you just want to focus on Career and Manager modes. Get your copy for PC or Xbox from our Store!
