“Stupid manthings” the world over were delighted during E3 2021 when Capcom revealed the news that it is working on some DLC for its beloved sexy vampire escape room simulator Resident Evil Village.
The game launched on May 7 and delighted gamers and critics alike with its stunning graphics and fun survival horror gameplay. Many of its characters have also gone on to be etched into the Resident Evil canon, the most notable of the cast being the claw-handed Lady Dimitrescu and her emo vampire brood.
With that in mind, we’re left wondering what’s going to happen in Resident Evil Village’s story DLC. Lucky for you, we have some ideas. Here’s everything you need to know about the forthcoming Village DLC, and some ideas for how it could expand the story Capcom has built.
Everything we know about the Resident Evil Village DLC

Capcom hosted an E3 showcase this year, which was roughly half an hour long and contained a number of reveals concerning the publisher’s current and upcoming games.
Capcom kicked things off with a little glimpse at the future of Resident Evil Village, courtesy of Resident Evil Village Producer Tsuyoshi Kaneda. We learned that the game’s multiplayer mode, Re:Verse, is coming in July, but the vignette ended with another little tease. “By popular demand, development has just started on additional DLC for Resident Evil Village. More info later”, the ending card stated. And that was it! No more news. No idea of a release date or the expansion’s content.
If you cast your mind back a few years, you’ll remember that Resident Evil 7: Biohazard offered multiple DLC expansions after the game’s release, which dug into parts of the story from new perspectives, with new characters like Chris Redfield and Zoe in focus. This means it’s safe to assume Capcom will be doing something similar with Village.
Resident Evil Village DLC Expansion Ideas

Now for the fun part — spoilers to follow!
So, knowing Capcom’s DLC tactics with Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, it’d be a good bet to suggest that we might be seeing an expansion featuring a previously non-playable character. Given the prevalence of Chris Redfield in the game, there’s definitely scope to play as the iconic Resi hero in a piece of Village DLC where we might see the events of the game’s opening few acts as Chris Redfield rather than Ethan Winters.
However, that would be a safe bet… what about the rest of the game’s characters? One of the lords still shrouded in mystery is puppet master Donna Beneviento, so it might be nice to see how she came to oversee the game’s dreaded mansion, perhaps through the eyes of Ada Wong, another Resi character who we know was cut from the game ahead of release.
There’s also the background of Mother Miranda, and her encounters with Oswell Spencer that inspired the Umbrella Corporation and its many misdeeds. It’d be interesting to see how that went down, but also get a glimpse of the village before it became overrun with the mold. What did it look like long before Ethan arrived in the modern era? Perhaps we could explore that through the eyes of one of the villagers themselves, like a young Luiza or Leonardo.
