Cities: Skylines was released back in 2015 but since then there have been lots of DLC’s or expansion packs that can help improve your gameplay further. We thought we’d list our favourite DLC’s to help you decide which one to buy in case you were thinking of buying the base game for the first time or wanted to upgrade your current gameplay.
3. Cities: Skylines Natural Disasters
This natural disasters expansion pack gives the game a realistic feel with random events like tornadoes, forest fires, earthquakes, sink holes, and tidal waves. The need to prepare for disasters is key as you need to mitigate the impact of disasters via early warning systems and getting shelters up to provide homes for citizens during and after the crisis.
If you like snow and trams then this pack will make you very happy. The challenge is to run a city when the temperature falls where you’ll need to work on your snow plowing plans and heating systems to make sure your people are keeping warm. Due to popular demand, the pack includes a new Tram system which shuttles citizens about town.
1. Cities: Skylines Mass Transit
This is the newest expansion pack and probably the best so far. With a wealth of new transit options, citizens can now get across town in ferries, blimps, cable cars, and monorails. Yep, they can now get around on the water and go up mountains. The new transit hubs offer citizens a more orderly journey on public transport. The transit options provide a new way to make money in the game, and there are new road types, scenarios, landmarks as well. There’s even more detail about the Mass Transit pack in this blog post.
If you haven’t got stuck into Cities: Skylines, then you should definitely get yourself a copy before buying the DLC’s above. And if you’ve got the base game already, then you might be lucky enough to pick up these DLC’s at a sweet price over the weekend.
