We Happy Few is still in Early Access on Steam, but the Compulsion Games hit survival game will be getting a movie adaptation.
With reports that the Pitch Perfect producer Gold Circle Entertainment and dj2 Entertainment will be brining the dystopian horror game to life. We Happy Few will be among recent games to get the film makeover treatment, including Assassins Creed, Resident Evil and Tomb Raider.
This does come as a surprise, as although the game made a huge impression when it was announced at the E3 press conference in 2016, the game is yet to prove itself as a popular title or future franchise, but it looks like We Happy Few has all the right elements for a film adaptation. With noticeably enticing art design and a central dark humoured plot, the twisted characters in We Happy Few are among the reasons we think the game will be a surprising film hit.
The official game description is “We Happy Few is the tale of a plucky bunch of moderately terrible people trying to escape from a lifetime of cheerful denial. Set in a drug-fuelled, retrofuturistic city in an alternative 1960s England, you’ll have to blend in with its other inhabitants, who have their own set of not-so-normal rules.”
We hope to have more details on the film adaptation soon!
