Wild West Online, the upcoming PC MMO that was announced last week will not be coming to Kickstarter as previously planned.
Initially Wild West Online was going to look for backing on Kickstarter, to help fund the games development. However a screenshot for the game circulated the internet sparking rumours that the image was from Red Dead Redemption 2. The games investors have since increased their investments meaning the game will not need a Kickstarter backing after all. The game will also come complete with all of the Stretch Goal content that the developers had planned for the campaign.
Developer 612 Games have also confirmed that the game will not be coming to Steam Early Access. They have also confirmed that the game is scheduled for release later this year.
A closed beta for Wild West Online will be held this summer. There has yet been no confirmation on what the beta will contain.
612 Games have also confirmed that the Wild West Online will release “several” expansions after launch.
They stated that “The community’s response to Wild West Online is something we never imagined, and thanks to it, we’re able to fully develop a robust Western experience for PC,” 612 Games chief creative officer Stephan Bugaj said in a statement. “We’ve been fortunate enough to have our initial investors step up and provide additional funding to make the game we wanted, without having to raise money via crowdfunding. Westerns are lacking on PC, so we can’t wait to release the game to the public.”
