IEM Katowice CS: GO finals to be shown in UK cinemas


The ESL has announced that the Intel Extreme Masters Katowice Counter-Strike: GO Finals will be broadcast live in 13 cinemas across the UK.

The event – the top draw on the competitive CS: GO calendar – will take place on March 4. UK residents will be able to buy tickets to watch the action in cinemas in towns and cities that include Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Leeds, Manchester, Swansea, Sheffield and London.

James Dean, ESL’s UK managing director, said: “IEM Katowice is one of the largest e-sports tournaments in the world, so there is no better place to watch in the UK than on the big screen. We want to give more fans the opportunity to experience the CS:GO Finals with the exciting, pulse-pounding spectacle of the Spodek Arena.” As well as the live IEM Katowice action, ESL and IEM will screen an: “Exclusive behind-the-scenes video” beforehand. In addition, “Competitions and giveaways” are promised for attendees.

IEM Katowice will feature 16 of the world’s best CS: GO teams, competing for a $500,000 prize-pool, of which $250,000 will go to the winning team. Over 173,000 fans are expected to attend the grand finals in Poland.
