Twitch sells Curse Media to Fandom

Twitch has reached an agreement to sell Curse Media – which encompasses various games-related websites including Gamepedia, Futhead, Muthead and D&D Beyond – to Fandom.

The move was reported by Kotaku, to which a Fandom spokesperson said: “We’ve signed a definitive agreement to acquire Curse Media from Twitch, Inc; including all media assets and employees.” Kotaku said that Fandom is planning on “Combining” Curse Media’s gaming wiki sites with its own ones, but that it declined to give any specifics on what that will entail.

Twitch said (also to Kotaku): ““We’ve signed an agreement for Fandom to acquire Curse Media and make it part of their offering to gamer communities. Twitch will continue to focus on our priorities supporting streamers’ ability to earn a living educating and entertaining fans.”

Twitch bought Curse Media just over two years ago, in a deal which included the Curse client and an in-game voice-chat app, which were repackaged as the Twitch Desktop App. To see how Curse Media’s integration into Fandom progresses, your best bet is to keep an eye on Fandom itself.
