Capcom has announced that it has shipped more than four million copies of the Resident Evil 2 remake.
The Japanese publisher announced the passing of the milestone on Twitter, saying: “It’s official — Thanks to all of you, we’ve shipped 4 million units of RE2 worldwide!” That tweet also provided a link to a developer round-table discussing the game.
Capcom also released the first of a series of free DLC drops entitled The Ghost Survivors on February 15, along with two new modes entitled The 4th Survivor and The Tofu Survivor. Resident Evil 2’s success takes the survival-horror franchise’s cumulative global sales beyond 90 million and, according to GamesIndustry.biz, Resident Evil 2 is so far 2019’s fastest-selling game in the UK, outpacing the likes of Far Cry New Dawn, Anthem and Kingdom Hearts III.
