Every month, Sims developers Maxis hold streams to talk about the state of The Sims 4, check-in with the community and see where the great ship Sims is heading next. December’s Maxis Monthly gave some updates about The Sims 4, The Sims Mobile, and The Sims FreePlay, and you can check it out below:
Producers Dave Miotke and Michael Duke, during the stream, chatted about what might be upcoming for The Sims 4, and whilst they were unable to reveal any specifics, they did mention that some of the upcoming updates and expansion packs will be “unexpected”.
“I’m really excited for next year,” Miotke said. “2020 is going to be a huge year for The Sims. We definitely have some surprises up our sleeve. I think it’s going to be a very interesting upcoming year full of unexpected turns and twists, and it’s going to be a lot of fun.”
Michael Duke chimed in speaking about the unlikeliness of the community guessing where The Sims 4 is heading next. “We’re finally at that place where I’m not convinced they can guess our next couple of packs anymore,” he said.
We do know that an upcoming Arts & Crafts pack will be released in 2020, following a community vote on the subject, but other than that we do not have any details about what the future holds for The Sims 4 and its series of expansions. But after 2019 where Maxis released a bevy of well-received expansions such as Island Living and Discover University, the sky really is the limit for the human-simulation game.
So whether you’re looking to pick up The Sims 4 next year, have had it for years, or picked it up for free earlier in 2019, it’s looking like exciting things are in store for the game.
