So join with us as we take a look at who Annapurna Interactive are and have a quick run through some of their greatest hits.

Who are Annapurna Interactive?

Even if you’re not aware of Annapurna as a name, you will most likely have come across their work. As Annapurna Pictures they have produced films like Zero Dark Thirty, Her, American Hustle, Sausage Party, Terminator: Genisys, and The Ballad of Buster Scruggs. They’ve helped create films, TV, even theatre productions.

But we’re here to talk about games. In 2016 Annapurna set up Annapurna Interactive, their gaming division, under the leadership of veterans from Sony and Warner Bros. Their mission was to publish games that are “personal, emotional, and original” and as you’ll see – they absolutely delivered.

Since then they have published over 30 games, with  many receiving plaudits from critics and audiences alike. Let’s take a look at some of their games and why you should be grabbing them immediately.

Journey

a massive desert vista awaits

Probably the most famous game published by Annapurna, Journey is an adventure across a desert landscape that will crack even the most jaded heart. On your way to a distant mountain you’ll see beautiful vistas, escape terrifying monsters, make friends that will aid you on your travels, and have the adventure of a lifetime.

Journey received almost every award under the sun and after playing it once, you’ll see just why. Combine all of the above with a Grammy-nominated score and some of the most uplifting – and heartbreaking – moments in gaming, you’ll never ever forget your time on the sands of Journey.

Florence

florence looks left on a vivid yellow background

Florence and Krish fall in love and in many narratives that would be the end point. In Florence it’s only the beginning, as you navigate her experiences through this short, beautiful narrative experience.

Often in games the narrative and the gameplay work separately, but in Florence they fit together perfectly like jigsaw pieces. You’ll see Florence and Krish’s journey together flourish, falter, and even possibly fall apart in a deeply meaningful and incredibly impactful game.

Telling Lies

four faces, one male, three female, look at you

Sam Barlow brought us Her Story, a unique experience where we pieced together a mystery by viewing video clips from a police interview. There was no grand conclusion from the game itself, you simply stopped playing when you felt like you had cracked what was going on.

In Telling Lies, Sam Barlow takes the idea a step further. You’re in front of a laptop, filled with footage stolen from an NSA database. That footage covers two years in the lives of a group of people, all brought together through a particular event. Search for footage, watch clips, and put together the truth, Telling Lies is like almost nothing out there, and it’s filled with surprises – sometimes shocking surprises.

Gorogoa

a giant ornate eye looks down on someone

This BAFTA winning puzzle game sees you explore tiny vignettes suspended in illustrated panels, arranging them in different combinations to solve problems. It’s imaginative, easy to pick up, but with a surprising amount of depth.

Gorogoa won many awards and for good reason, it’s a game that combines a wonderful narrative filled with beauty with puzzles that will test your brain all at the same time. It’s a piece of art that transcends that with game elements that make it more than the sum of its parts.

Maquette

a small domed building

What if an item’s size were determined solely by your perspective? What if your size changed depending on how large or small things are around you? Maquette takes those premises and places you right amongst a mind-bending puzzle adventure game that will make you ask ‘how did they do that?’ many times before you finish it.

If that wasn’t enough, Maquette also features a love story that will pull at your heart-strings as you work towards a satisfying and moving conclusion.

Outer Wilds

a mysterious machine on a mysterious planet

In Outer Wilds you play as the newest recruit of Outer Wilds Ventures, departing for a distant solar system to discover the hidden mysteries lurking there.

…and that’s all we can say about it. If we say any more, we’ll spoil a once-in-a-lifetime experience and you will not thank us. Just know that Outer Wilds won Game of the Year 2019 from Giant Bomb, The Guaridan, Eurogamer, and Polygon as well as Best Game at the 2020 BAFTAs. So pick it up, don’t read any spoilers, and dive in.

Donut County

a donut falls into a hole

The world is an untidy place isn’t it? Well in Donut County you can fix that. As BK the raccoon, owner of a hole, you can fix all that mess. Just drop it in the hole, there won’t be any problems later…

Unless you fall into one of your own holes and find all the people you dropped down there. Well, we’d better hope that doesn’t happen. Donut County is full of life and laughter and of course, dropping things in holes. What’s better than that?

What Remains of Edith Finch

the house from what remains of edith finch

Sometimes to understand the larger story you need to understand the smaller ones that are part of it. In What Remains of Edith Finch you play as the titular Edith, returning to her family home, looking into why she’s the last one alive.

You’ll experience many narratives told from different perspectives, each one combining a unique approach to storytelling as well as brilliant intertwined gameplay features. Experience life, death, and everything in-between in this stunningly crafted first person experience from the creators behind The Unfinished Swan

Steam Deck – The Best Steam Deck Verified Games To Play

Steam Deck has now been released and gamers everywhere that want a punchy, console equivalent portable experience have been flooding to purchase Valve’s shiny new lump of gaming silicon en masse. A wonderful piece of kit, we’re primarily devoting this handy Steam Deck guide to the best Steam Deck games that money can buy, in addition to providing a comprehensive list of Steam Deck verified games to boot.

Steam Deck Release Date – When Did Steam Deck Come Out And How Can I Get One?

steam deck release date

The Steam Deck release date was officially confirmed as February 25, 2022. Valve have also confirmed that pre-order customers had three days from the Steam Deck release date to collect their hardware, with those customers failing to do so resulting in that Steam Deck unit being reallocated. Since the Steam Deck release date, Valve has sought to make as many Steam Deck units available as possible in order to meet demand. However, Valve admits that more Steam Decks won’t be available until Q3 2022 and any Steam Deck orders placed right now won’t be fulfilled until then at earliest. The Valve Steam Deck can be ordered from the official Steam Store.

The Best Steam Deck Games – What Are The Best Games To Play On Steam Deck?

steam deck verified games

Being a fixed specification platform, Steam games have to be specially verified by Valve in order to be deemed fit to run on Steam Deck and by ‘run’, Valve means an individually curated experience that is tailored to the controls and performance specification of the platform. This means no keyboard or mouse inputs by default and a level of technical performance that doesn’t make your eyes roll into the back of your head. Sure, there are many games that are ‘playable’ on Steam Deck to varying degrees of quality, but it’s really the Steam Deck verified games that will give you the best experience. With more games being verified seemingly every week, we’ve picked out the cream of the crop – five of the best Steam Deck verified games that you can play right now.

Elden Ring

Not just a bonafide Game of the Year candidate for 2022 but potentially also one of the greatest open world action RPGs ever made, From Software’s Elden Ring perfectly intertwines the masterful third-person combat that Dark Souls series is known for together with a breathtaking open world where revelation and discovery lurk around every corner.

Perhaps most notably of all, Elden Ring runs extremely well on Valve’s Steam Deck, kicking out an impressive performance profile that will trigger raised eyebrows alike from PC and console owning folks. Elden Ring on the move? The future is here. Thank you Steam Deck.

God of War

Playing arguably one of the greatest PlayStation exclusives ever made in handheld form is something of a revelation, not least because it essentially feels like you have a PS4 in your hands (let’s shed a tear for the PlayStation Vita, please).

A boundlessly opulent action adventure that sees all-time violent lad and titular God of War Kratos pop off to the realms of Norse mythology for a bit with his plucky offspring, God of War blissfully blends satisfyingly thudding combat, irresistible exploration and a supremely compelling narrative filled with no shortage of engaging characters to create one of the finest games you can play on the Steam Deck right now.

Deathloop

Arkane Studios’ stupendously stylish take on Groudhog Day-esque assassinations that unfold on a  hedonistic island in which its lead characters are trapped in a deadly time loop is a superb game to play on Steam Deck.

Oozing 1960s style retro-futurism out of every digital pore and providing players with seemingly endless creative latitude with which to take advantage of its central time-bending mechanism, Deathloop is a cracking and innovative first-person shooter adventure that sits at the apex of what Dishonored developer Arkane Studios has been able to achieve. Got a Steam Deck? Get Deathloop. It’s that simple.

Death Stranding

Hideo Kojima’s wonderfully bizarre post-apocalyptic adventure about a conflicted courier that must ward off a seemingly hidden evil while attempting to reconnect the remains of humanity is a great fit for Valve’s Steam Deck.

Deftly mixing in satisfying exploration and an esoteric traversal system with the sort of genre bending narratives that Kojima is known for, Death Stranding looks great and plays great on Steam Deck.

Dead Cells

Easily one of the best roguelikes of the last decade, Twin Motion’s Dead Cells plays sublimely on Valve’s shiny new lump of portable gaming silicon.

Cast as an eternally reanimated warrior that must carve, shoot and blast their way through a randomly generated labyrinthe of prisons, catacombs and fallen kingdoms, Dead Cells is a pitch-perfect blend of platforming and Metroidvania gameplay beats that nobody else has really managed to match in the years since its release.

A Complete List Of Steam Deck Verified Games

steam deck verified games list

Games Like Final Fantasy

Finding the best games like Final Fantasy can be an incredibly big ask. There is a world of similar games out there, but that’s not even the main issue. The main issue tends to be that Final Fantasy as a series is so incredibly varied to begin with. It means that you’ll struggle to find a game that’s going to scratch a specific itch without knowing which Final Fantasy you’re actually looking for.

To that end, rather than giving you a list for games that are like Final Fantasy in general, we’ve gone ahead and separated them into three main categories. That way, you can find the best games like Final Fantasy no matter which one you’ve got in mind as you’re searching.

Games like Final Fantasy

This section has your bread and butter turn-based games. These aren’t all necessarily what you’d think of when thinking about the best games like Final Fantasy, but they all have a similar feeling to them. So, if you’re looking for your turn-based fix, then here you are.

Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age

buy dragon quest 11 here

Our first pick is, quite possibly, the most quintessential example of what a modern-day turn-based RPG looks like. You take control of a hero who meets a group of party members and has to save the world. It’s classic stuff, but it’s set in the wonderful world of the Dragon Quest series, which means hordes of cute monsters, and alongside being an absolute monster of a game, also allows you to switch between modern and old-school graphical styles.

Buy Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition here.

Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch

buy ni no kuni wrath of the white witch remastered

Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is a stunning RPG that has all of the power of a Level-5 RPG infused with the stunning looks of Studio Ghibli’s signature style. It’s an adorable story of a boy called Oliver and his journey across a magical world as he tries to reverse the cruel hands of fate.

Buy Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch – Remastered here.

Divinity: Original Sin 2

divinity original sin

This one sort of bridges the gap between games like Final Fantasy and games like Final Fantasy tactics, but we’re putting it in this section anyway. Divinity: Original Sin 2 is quite possibly the most perfected version of a CRPG we’ve ever had, and has you fighting your way across a torn-up world to try and solve the issue of godhood. Combat is incredibly immersive, the story is compelling, and the role-playing is almost impossible to beat.

Games like Final Fantasy tactics

Here we have the games like Final Fantasy tactics, which is still one of the best examples of a tactics RPG we’ve ever had, despite being old enough to drink and become completely disillusioned with capitalism. Well, more so than it already is.

Into the Breach

into the breach

First in this section is Into the Breach. This is a roguelike tactics game where you control mechs who’ve been caught up in some time-travelling stuff and have to fight gigantic monsters to try and save humanity. This is a genuinely incredible tactics game that distils the genre down to its purest parts, and is an essential game for tactics fans as a result.

Triangle Strategy

triangle strategy

Triangle Strategy has only just been released for Nintendo Switch, but is already one of the most faithful modern-day takes on Final Fantasy tactics going. It’s got all of the political intrigue you could want, fun and in-depth gameplay, and also the constant nagging feeling that maybe everyone is evil and there are no right choices to be made.

Fell Seal: Arbiter’s Mark

buy fell seal arbiters mark

Fell Seal: Arbiter’s Mark is, in essence, an indie take on this whole thing. It’s very obviously inspired by Final Fantasy Tactics, and it’s a joy to play as a result. The combat will feel familiar, it has an amazingly in-depth job system to master, and the story is gripping from start to finish. You deserve this game, so go and get it.

Buy Fell Seal: Arbiter’s Mark here.

Games like Final Fantasy 15

Right then, this is the section with the action RPGs, because Final Fantasy isn’t the same style of game it used to be. That means this is where you’ll find the games that feel more akin to modern Final Fantasy games. It also means this is where you’ll find the games that test your reflexes and your brain.

Tales of Arise

buy tales of arise

Tales of Arise is an amazing action RPG with wonderful characters, a deeply messed up world to try and fix, and some of the most entertaining combat you could possibly hope for. Each character plays differently and the overarching story will drag you along kicking and screaming, but in a good way. Also, everyone in this game is hot, so that’s a nice bonus if it’s something you’re looking for.

Buy Tales of Arise here.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt

If you’re looking for the grittiest possible version of a game like Final Fantasy 15, then you’ll likely want to play The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Playing as Geralt (that dude from The Witcher Netflix series), you have to try and track down your adopted daughter Ciri, while also trying to avoid a supernatural group of riders called the Wild Hunt. It’s all very dark and gritty, so nobody is ever really happy, but it works.

Dragon’s Dogma

Buy Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen

Until we get Dragon’s Dogma 2, Dragon’s Dogma will remain one of the best action RPGs ever made. You take control of someone who’s had their heart stolen by a dragon, literally, and has to try and get it back. On your journey to do so you’ll clamber up hydras, cling on to flying griffins, and even cut the heads off of a manticore. The class system here is incredible too, and the story is incredible.

Buy Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen here.

Resonance of Fate/End of Eternity

Resonance of Fate/End of Eternity

Resonance of Fate is an incredibly odd RPG game where you fight battles entirely using guns and grenades, and basically get rewarded for trying to look as cool as possible. It’s getting on a bit, but it’s still one of the most unique RPGs ever made, and well worth your attention, time, money, and suspension of disbelief.

Dark Souls 3 All Bosses, Areas & Side Quests In Order

Despite launching all the way back in 2016 when everything at least *seemed* a little bit more normal than it does now, Dark Souls 3 nonetheless has endured as a premium example of how to do this whole Dark Souls business right. Stuffed with all manner of fiendish bosses, danger ridden areas and rewarding side quests, we’ve taken the opportunity to break down all of the Dark Souls 3 bosses, areas and side quests in order. Praise the sun! (or something)

Dark Souls 3 Bosses In Order

Dark souls 3 all bosses in order

Like any Dark Souls effort worth its salt, Dark Souls 3 is absolutely filled to the brim with double-hard, big baddie types that have a thing about wanting to put you six feet under as quickly as possible. From the initial scrap with Iudex Gundyr through to the final, controller-chucking showdown with the Soul of Cinder and every optional boss in between, here is every Dark Souls 3 boss in order.

1. Iudex Gundyr

2. Vordt of the Boreal Valley

3. Curse-Rotted Greatwood (Optional boss: Go to the massive courtyard area close to the end of the Undead Settlement zone and you should start to see some violet flowers. This will mean you’re in the right place.)

4. Crystal Sage

5. Deacons of the Deep

6. Abyss Watchers

7. High Lord Wolnir

8. Old Demon King (Optional boss: The Old Demon King can be found in the Smouldering Lake. To reach that location you must ensure that the wooden bridge prior to the High Lord Wolnir boss fight is destroyed. Once the bridge has been removed, the resulting path below will take you to this boss.)

9. Pontiff Sulyvahn

10. Yhorm the Giant

11. Aldritch, Devourer of Gods

12. Dancer of the Boreal Valley

13. Dragonslayer Armour

14. Oceiros, the Consumed King (Optional boss: You must defeat the Dancer of the Boreal Valley first and collect the basin she drops as loot. Simply place that basin on the statue in the room after she dies and a secret ladder triggers. Climb the ladder, take the first path to your left and then you’ll come across Oceiros, The Consumed King.)

15. Champion Gundyr (Optional boss: Once Oceiros has been felled, walk down the hallway until you hit a dead end. Strike the wall with your weapon and the newly revealed secret corridor will take you to the Untended Graves where you’ll find Champion Gundyr)

16. Lothric, Younger Prince and Lorian, Elder Prince (Two bosses for the price of one)

17. Ancient Wyvern (Optional boss: You must first reach Archdragon Peak which can only be accessed with the Path of the Dragon gesture that you can loot from a fallen foe near the optional Oceiros boss battle. Once collected, head to the Irithyll Dungeon and locate the meditating dragon statue. Use the Path of the Dragon gesture here and you’ll be transported to the Archdragon Peak. At this point just keep moving forward until you reach a gate because beyond this point the Ancient Wyvern waits for an almighty scrap)

18. Nameless King (Optional boss: Travel to the Archdragon Peak and proceed through the dungeon until you find a lever next to a massive bell. Simply pull said lever and a path will be revealed, setting up an epic confrontation with the fearsome Nameless King)

19. Soul of Cinder

Elden Ring Story and Lore Summary

Elden Ring has been out for a few weeks now, so it feels like a good time to try and figure out what the hell is going on with its story. FromSoftware games are very well-known for making players work hard to get to the core of what the story is actually about, which is why YouTubers like VaatiVidya are so popular, because they’re more than happy to get stuck into the worlds and help us lot out with easy to understand videos.

Elden Ring’s story is a little more overt than many other FromSoftware games, but it also chucks a lot of it at you the moment the game begins. So, it’s still not what most people would call easy to understand. Thankfully, as we’ve had a bit of time with the game now, we’re on hand to help explain the basics of The Lands Between, what it is your Tarnished is meant to be doing there, and also what happens as you make your journey through the game.

Elden Ring Story – Intro and Lore

elden ring story intro

The world of Elden Ring is one filled with magic, miracles, and demi-gods. The game is set in a place called the Lands Between, where demi-gods rule over different regions in the wake of wars and events that led to the shattering of the titular Elden Ring. The Elden Ring is a conduit of sorts that is at the centre of the power of the Erdtree, which blesses the Lands Between with immortality, as a result.

The world is kept in balance, primarily, by Queen Marika, one of the most powerful immortals, who went on to have a few children, who are classed as demi-gods. Her second husband was a man called Radagon, who was initially with Rennala. There are also some hints in the game that Marika and Radagon are literally halves of the same person, but it’s hard to know for certain.

Because of this legacy of immortals and gods, death is highly unusual, let alone the death of one of the great lords. Despite that, the world was turned on its head when a group discovers the key to ending immortality and descends upon the Lands Between to kill Godwyn the Golden, and the body of Ranni the Witch, but not her soul. After this event, the Elden Ring was shattered, seemingly by Radagon, and the world was thrown into chaos.

This is because of multiple things. For starters, some people became unable to see the guiding grace of the Erdtree because of its weakened power. These beings are known as Tarnished (which is you) and are all seemingly linked to the first Elden Lord Godfrey, in some way. This also led to the other demi-gods ending up locked in an endless battle with one another, unable to overcome each other, thus throwing the Lands Between into war, and also leading to it being effectively segmented too.

Elden Ring Story – Progression

elden ring progression

Because of all of this, and the residual tension that now reigns over the Lands Between, the Tarnished have been called back with the hope of creating a new Elden Lord. That’s where you come in, as you are one of those Tarnished.

Now, this is where things get tricky. You can take multiple paths through Elden Ring, at least up until a point, and there are also multiple endings. So, we’re going to have to be a little bit vague here, because your playthrough will dictate your own story.

However, the general gist of things is that you’ll fight and kill a bunch of enemies including some of these legendary demi-gods, with the aim being to repair the broken Elden Ring. However, no matter which path you choose, you’ll find yourself at an impasse with the Erdtree itself at one point, and that means you have to burn it to gain entry in order to actually do this. You don’t actually have to kill off all of the demi-gods, at all. In fact, you only need to kill two optional ones and then progress through the story to see the ending, but it won’t be a good one.

Elden Ring Story – Endings

elden ring endings

There are at least six Elden Ring endings. The first four of these are dictated by which Mending Rune you’ve gone out of your way to find. If you’ve not found one, then you get to reign over a fractured age, which is the standard ending. However, via a few NPC side quests, you can find different Mending Runes to change the way the Elden Ring functions in some way, each of which tweaks the outcome.

You can also choose to reject the natural order of things and embrace the Three Fingers instead. This leaves you branded and with bright yellow glowing eyes, and also leads to you becoming the Lord of the Frenzied Flame. That’s one hell of a title, but it’ll also kind of doom the Lands Between, but hey, they’ve been treating you like rubbish anyway.

Finally, you can follow along with Ranni the Witch to unlock the Age of the Stars Ending. This is an ending where, rather than embracing the Elden Ring, you choose to overthrow Marika in order to bring the world into a new age. This Age of the Stars is one where everyone is guided by moonlight, and immortality is no more, and souls are free to move on.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands – Everything You Need To Know

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is the latest entry, well, more of a spin-off really, in the Borderlands franchise – a series that brought the whole looter shooter subgenre to the fore, while introducing a whole range of super annoying/funny characters into the fold.

So, here is our handy guide to fill you in on everything you need to know about Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands from the Steam release date, to the voice actors, collectors edition details and much more besides.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands – What Is It About?

what is tiny tina's wonderlands?

A literal world away from the ramshackle apocalypse of the core Borderlands games, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands instead whisks players off to the titular fantastical realm of Tiny Tina’s creation, stuffed with oodles of enemies, bullets, magic and, yep you guessed it, loot.

A heady combination of Borderlands first-person shootery and tabletop Dungeons & Dragons style quests and narrative, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands isn’t just about blasting massive dragons out of the sky, it’s also about dealing with Tiny Tina herself who as something of a quirky, unstable dungeon master that can change the game world (and the monsters within it) on a whim.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands – What Is The PC Release Date On Steam?

tiny tina's wonderlands release date

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands PC release date on Steam will happen sometime in 2022, but as of this writing it is simply just listed as ‘coming soon’ on Steam. Elsewhere though, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands will be released for PC via the Epic Games Store on March 24, 2022.

Further afield, the Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands console release date has also been confirmed for one day later on March 25, 2022 and will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X platforms.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands Voice Actors

tiny tina's wonderlands voice actors

Like the Borderlands games before it, Tiny Tina’s Wonderland’s voice actors are a varied and interesting bunch. Which characters in the game do they voice, though? Well, we’ve got some answers as to which roles they’re playing. The Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands cast are as currently follows:

  • Tiny Tina – Ashly Burch
  • Dragon Lord – Will Arnett
  • Captain Valentine – Andy Samberg
  • Frette – Wanda Sykes
  • Jim Foronda – Claptrap
  • Ciarán Strange – Paladin Mike

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands Collector’s Edition – What Do You Get?

tiny tina's wonderlands collector's edition

  • Villain’s Visage Face Preset (2 items)
  • Death’s Head Makeup Pack (3 items)
  • Emperor of the Dead Banner Set (3 items)
  • Kwartz Hero Statue Material
  • Season Pass (Includes the Butt Stallion Pack and four post-launch content releases)

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands Treasure Trove – What’s In The Box?

tiny tina's wonderlands treasure trove

Ah, but that’s not all. You see, beyond the Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands Chaotic Great Edition, 2K have also created something called the Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands Treasure Trove – a generously stuffed box filled with physical goodies. Sometimes packaged with the Chaotic Great Edition at retail (the Treasure Trove does not include a copy of the game by itself), the Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands Treasure Trove contains the following fancy trinkets:

  • Butt Stallion Plush: A cuddly rendition of Borderlands most fearsome icon, the Butt Stallion Plush makes for a great, real-life friend for you to take with you on your journey through Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. This of course would be in lieu of actual friends that might wonder why you’re clutching a plush of rainbow unicorn beast with the sort of zeal that could perhaps be described as ‘mildly suspect’.
  • Illustrated Tarot Cards: Much more than just a pack of cards, this 78-card strong deck boasts a whole range of designs from Tiny Tina herself. So naturally, prepare yourself to spend an inordinate amount of time working out what it all means.
  • Standalone Bunkers & Badasses Module: An actual module from the Bunkers & Badasses tabletop RPG game, when players fancy a break from Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, they can get stuck into some tabletop goodness and see where it all started (and will likely continue).
  • Enamel Companion Pins: Everybody likes some enamel pins, right? Well, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands Treasure Trove comes with a whole bunch of them just in case you wanted to be reminded what a stabbing pain in your chest feels like.
  • Butt Stallion’s Castle Papercraft Booklet: Despite the housing market being roundly unfair in every direction you turn, Butt Stallion’s Castle Papercraft Booklet allows you to build a castle of your own, mortgage free.
  • Cloth Wonderlands Map: A beautiful 18″x30″ map which provides a visual chronicle of the titular Wonderlands, the opulent cloth Wonderlands map is certainly quite an attractive item to say the least. A word of warning though – the map shows areas and other special ‘landmarks’ that effectively double up as spoilers for the game itself, so beware.

Everything you need to know about LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is nearly here and fans of the games and the universe are no doubt about to poop bricks (get it) with excitement. This is basically being billed as the ultimate Star Wars game and after so many excellent entries in the series, it’s undoubtedly going to be a lot of fun. The LEGO games have a good reputation for being family-friendly games in terms of both content and approachability too, so these often make an excellent gateway into gaming for younger players.

If you’ve been looking forward to the game and want to make sure you know everything there is to know about LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, then you’re in the right place. We’re going to blitz through the release date, what platforms you can play the game on, a little bit about the gameplay, and even treat you to a trailer for sticking around until the end.

That’s a lot of information to get through, so strap yourself into your pod racer, grab your friendly football-shaped droid, and let’s get stuck into what you need to know about LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Release Date

When we said you didn’t have long to wait until the LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga release date, we weren’t kidding. The game will be hitting digital shelves and physical stores on April 5th 2022. That’s literally next month, assuming you’re reading this in March. We’d be weirded out if you were reading it any sooner than then, because we’re only writing it in March.

The specific time will likely vary depending on where in the world you are, but as a lot of consoles now allow for pre-installing, keep an eye out for the ability to do so in the week or so leading up to the LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga release date, so that you don’t have to wait around for too long to play it.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Platforms

So, we all know when the game is coming out, but what can you actually play it on? Well, you’ll be very happy to know that as long as you’re not expecting to play LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga on mobile, you can play it on nearly every other possible device. The list of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga platforms is PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Now, do keep in mind that if you’re buying it on PlayStation or Xbox there may be upgrades to think about regarding cross-gen versions of the game, so always look into that if you happen to own an old-gen console and a shiny new one too.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Gameplay

In terms of what you’ll be doing in the various parts of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, you can expect a good mix of comedic violence, platforming, and fights as you’d always see in these games. One thing that really makes this particular game stand out is that it actually comprises the entirety of the Skywalker Sage (hence the name).

What that means is that you’ll be able to play through all nine films in this one game, and that’s a lot of lightsaber swinging and bloodline serendipity to get through. Each trilogy is divided into its own section, and because you’re unlikely to be playing the game for the story reveals, you can do this in any order you like and pick whichever trilogy you prefer when you start. From there, each of the films themselves is split into five missions, which means there are a whopping 45 levels in the game.

Alongside that, the combat has been bolstered a bit from previous games. That means that the characters with lightsabers will now be able to perform light and heavy attacks to mix up combos. Plus, there will be force characters, and characters that rely on ranged weapons will benefit from the new over-the-shoulder camera angle to allow them to feel a bit more unique and worthwhile. There will apparently be over 300 playable characters too, so your favourite should be among them somewhere.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga PC System Requirements

LEGO Star Wars games have a reputation of not being too punishing on the old computer and it’s looking like The Skywalker Saga will be no different. Here’s what you need to know to make sure your rig is beefy enough to go to a galaxy far, far away.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-2400 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga trailer

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=syvicyCN_lw

If all of those gameplay elements sound good, you can watch this trailer from August 2020. Just remember to ignore the release date it gives, because we’re way past that now. The trailer itself shows off a lot of actual gameplay. That means you’ll be able to enjoy some of the comedic moments that the games will have, see Yoda with a weird 80’s haircut, and also get a feel for some of the combat too.

Of particular note is the fact that there seems to be a fair bit of flying around in vehicles in the LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga gameplay alongside the usual ground-level fighting and play. If what you’re after is a genuinely complete gaming experience set amongst the nine films that you know and love, then it looks a lot like LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is going to scratch that itch, and then probably kill it dead so you’ll never feel it again. That’s a good thing, or at least, we’re pretty sure that’s a good thing.

Everything You Need To Know About Ghostwire: Tokyo

Ghostwire: Tokyo is the latest game from Tango Gameworks, the talented developer folks behind pant-filling third-person horror titles The Evil Within and The Evil Within 2. From the Ghostwire: Tokyo release date, to the details on the Ghostwire: Tokyo PC release, system requirements and gameplay, we’ve got everything you need to know about the game right here in this handy guide.

Ghostwire: Tokyo Release Date – When And How Can I Play Ghostwire: Tokyo?

ghostwire tokyo release date and platforms

The Ghostwire: Tokyo release date has been confirmed as March 25, 2022. It will be released on PC via Steam, in addition to the PS5 console platform with a release on Xbox Series S and X platforms and Xbox Game Pass likely sometime in 2023 after Sony’s period of console exclusivity has elapsed.

Designed as a predominantly next generation experience, to play it at launch on March 25, you’ll ever need a PS5 console or a somewhat powerful PC rig to get the job done.

What Is Ghostwire: Tokyo?

what is ghostwire tokyo

Marking something of a departure from those games, Ghostwire: Tokyo not only eases back on the horror in favour of a more visually vivid, current day Tokyo scenario, but it also switches the action to a first-person perspective – giving players a front row seat of the action as it unfolds in front of them. Thrust into a surrealist, nocturnal Tokyo where the population have mysteriously disappeared and all manner of supernatural monsters roam the streets, it is up to you to uncover the forces of occultism that have caused this calamity as you attempt to bring Tokyo back from the brink of oblivion and discover the dark secret behind the city’s missing denizens.

Ghostwire: Tokyo Gameplay – Single Or Multiplayer?

ghostwire tokyo gameplay

Conceived as an atmospheric first-person shooter adventure with a sophisticated and evolving narrative, Ghostwire: Tokyo is a single-player only experience at present. There is currently no multiplayer component or modes, though future DLC releases could potentially change that fact.

How Does It Play?

An action game at heart, Ghostwire: Tokyo is a first-person action shooter that has players cutting across a nightmarish, neon-drenched version of its titular locale smashing up a wide range of supernatural demons and other evil apparitions from the deepest depths of Japanese folklore. Much more than just a point-to-point first-person shooter adventure, the game presents players with a fair degree of latitude to go off the beaten path, discovering secret areas, hidden enemies and much more besides.

Where its gameplay begins to really stand apart from its genre stablemates however, is in its use of a magical gestures system which in turn provides the player with an array of potent magical attacks.

How Do The Magical Gestures Work In Combat?

Rather than using the sorts of regular firearms that Tango Gameworks’ last two games, The Evil Within and The Evil Within 2 predominantly employed, Ghostwire: Tokyo instead embraces a system of magical gestures that can conjure devastating elemental attacks. Depicted as a cross between martial arts style kata motions and brazen sorcery, its flamboyant magical combat uses numerous different hand gesture combinations to create a wide range of different elemental attacks and spells that can be used to eviscerate the sinister supernatural baddies that are lurking around every corner.

Making things interesting is the fact that some enemies are more vulnerable to certain attacks than others, adding in a neat layer of strategy to its otherwise frenetic arcane skirmishes.

How Do The Takedowns Work?

Neatly complimenting the combat is the takedown system which is used to finish off enemies. Functioning extremely similar to the way that the Glory Kills do in DOOM and DOOM Eternal (ironically the Glory Kill system from those games was developed by Shinichiro Hara, who also happens to be the Combat Director), once players have weakened enemies sufficiently they can be finished off by having their core ripped out by a literal tangle of spiritual (ghost)wires. Nice.

Ghostwire: Tokyo PC System Requirements Revealed

ghostwire tokyo pc system requirements

Very easy on the ol’ retinas, this game is a gorgeous looking effort that deftly blends cutting edge rendering techniques with a stunning art style that is generously dripping in neon and fused with Japanese folklore. Just what are the Ghostwire: Tokyo system requirements though? We’ve got the complete set of minimum and recommended system requirements for you to pour over below.

Ghostwire: Tokyo Minimum PC System Requirements

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: 64-BIT Windows 10 Version 1909 or higher
  • Processor: Core i7 4770K @ 3.5GHZ or AMD Ryzen 5 2600
  • Memory: 12 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Nvidia GTX 1060 or AMD RX 5500 XT (VRAM 6 GB or higher)
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Storage: 20 GB available space
  • Additional Notes: SSD Storage Recommended

Ghostwire: Tokyo Recommended PC System Requirements

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: 64-BIT Windows 10 Version 1909 or higher
  • Processor: Core i7 6700 @ 3.4GHZ or AMD Ryzen 5 2600
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Nvidia GTX 1080 or AMD RX 5600 XT (VRAM 6 GB or higher)
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Storage: 20 GB available space
  • Additional Notes: SSD Storage essential for improved loading times and performance

Though the system requirements aren’t especially steep and even the recommended PC system requirements are fairly forgiving, the highly detailed visuals are such that you’ll certainly want to play it over and above the recommended PC system requirements, rather than falling on the other side of that technical divide.

Ghostwire: Tokyo Prelude – What Is It All About?

what is ghostwire tokyo prelude

Ahead of the full release on March 25th, Tango Gameworks has released Ghostwire: Tokyo Prelude on PS4 and PS5 platforms. A modestly portioned visual novel, Ghostwire: Tokyo Prelude sets the stage for the events of the main game, taking players through the harrowing circumstances that resulted in the disappearance of Tokyo’s populace.

Even better still, many of the characters that appear in the Ghostwire: Tokyo Prelude also appear in the game itself, making it something of an essential primer for folks who want to get cracking on their journey.

Elden Ring Review Roundup

It’s finally here alongside a tonne of Elden Ring reviews. The huge followup to Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Demon’s Souls, and Sekiro is emerging from development to take up permanent space on our hard drives. It’s fair to say that there are no games more anticipated than Elden Ring. FromSoftware are masters of their craft, so it’s absolutely understandable that excitement for their latest grand adventure is at unprecedented levels.

Reviewers have had time to put the game through its paces, see the bosses, die, get better, die again, and finally emerge triumphant with a review score in place.

If you’re unsure about whether or not to take the plunge on Elden Ring or just want to push your excitement to a brand new level, here’s some highlights in our Elden Ring Review Roundup.

Elden Ring Reviews

elden ring reviews

IGN – 10/10

“It is no exaggeration to say that Elden Ring is FromSoftware’s largest and most ambitious game yet, and that ambition has more than paid off. Even after 87 hours of blood, sweat, and tears that included some of the most challenging fights I’ve ever fought, and innumerable surprises, there are still bosses that I left on the table, secrets that I’ve yet to uncover, sidequests that I missed out on, tons of weapons, spells, and skills that I’ve never used. And this is all on top of PVP and cooperative play that I’ve barely been able to scratch the surface of.”

Eurogamer – Essential

“Elden Ring remains a glorious game, one that established fans are going to savour for some time to come, and one that may just welcome new fans into the FromSoft fold. Sumptuous visual design, dark and detailed lore and a vast-but-intricate open world are reason enough to venture out into the Lands Between. Add to that FromSoftware’s unforgiving and unforgettable gameplay loop and this is something truly special.”

PCGamesN – 10/10

“Elden Ring has wormed its way deep inside my head. I can’t stop thinking about it and I want to talk about it endlessly. There’s something to pore over in every nook and cranny of the world. I want to talk about how it has a genuinely laugh-out-loud Dark Souls easter egg, about its apparent obsession with baby birds and embryos, or about how I learned all my most powerful spells from a giant tortoise wearing a pope hat. I’ve found more special items and mysteries in a few hours of Elden Ring than in all the bloated runtimes of Assassin’s Creed.”

The Guardian – 5/5

“Video games can be all kinds of different things, representing all manner of artistic ambitions. Most, however, share a common goal: to conjure a compelling fictional reality, filled with beckoning mysteries, enchanting secrets, and enriching opportunities to compete and collaborate. They aim to provide a liminal space in which a determined player can fix that which is broken, order that which is chaotic. By this definition, at least, Elden Ring is the finest video game yet made. Its final gift is the assurance that, whatever monsters lurk in a broken world, with perseverance and cooperation, they too can be overcome – all without losing the mystery and wonder that makes our existence beguiling, infuriating, and fascinating.”

Read the full Guardian review here.

PC Gamer – 90%

“Elden Ring is junk food for FromSoftware fans. It’s more of what I already adore, but family sized. It has everything that makes these games so intoxicating, and that lodges their intricate fiction into my brain. But its devotion to what came before is distracting. It dulls the impact of those moments where Elden Ring leaps beyond its past to demonstrate why FromSoftware’s games are unparalleled by all who attempt to replicate them. As another Souls game, I love Elden Ring, but as the latest game from FromSoftware, I wanted it to dream a little bigger.”

Read the full PC Gamer review here.

Rock, Paper, Shotgun – Bestest Bests

“That’s the thing about Elden Ring, its open world has your back, in its own – often painful – way. Souls has always been about inching through claustrophobic corridors and bashing your skull against whatever’s in the way. You compare foreheads with friends, “Look at this bruise Barry, that’s me five hours in”. And Barry would probably peel his hair back and reveal the exact same bruise. Adventures in past Souls games tend to line up, as you’re all wandering down the same pathways. But that’s not the case with Elden Ring. You might show your bruise to Barry and he’ll peel his hair back to reveal a scar or a massive indent or a tattoo of a mouse tustling with a skeleton. Both of may be five hours in but you’ll be on totally different trajectories. No matter how hostile the game’s world may be, it pushes you to succeed and carve out your own adventures. It is, by far, the most encouraging Souls yet.”

Read the full Rock, Paper, Shotgun review here.

Destructoid – 10/10

“To say I was blown away by Elden Ring is an understatement. Sure it’s still going to appear esoteric and unapproachable to a subset of people. There are things it could still do better in terms of onboarding, and it could do even more on the front of quality-of-life enhancements for returning Souls players.

But as an experience, it’s one of the most wondrous and open-ended games I’ve played in years. It has so much to say from a design perspective that people will be talking about its choices for years on end, and playing it for longer.”

Everything you need to know about Elex 2

Elex 2 is the sequel to Elex (I am sure the clue is in the title somewhere) and is a third-person science fiction RPG that looks to meaningfully build on its predecessor in just about every way. From the release date, to the latest news, trailer, factions and gameplay details, we’ve got everything you need to know about Elex 2 right here.

Elex 2 Release Date – When Is Elex 2 Coming Out And How Can I Play It?

Elex 2 Release Date

The Elex 2 release date has been confirmed as March 1, 2022. It’ll be getting a full release on PC via Steam, in addition to PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One console platforms. Basically, if you’ve got a reasonable PC or a gaming console from the last decade or so that isn’t a Nintendo Switch, you’re good to go with Elex 2.

Where Can I Find The Latest Elex 2 Trailer?

Elex 2 Trailer

Being something of an ambitious offering in the RPG genre, publisher THQ Nordic has released a number of trailers that outline the various aspects of Elex 2. The latest of these trailers zeroes in on the combat system that underpins the baddie smackery that you’ll be getting up to. You can catch the latest Elex 2 trailer below:

Elex 2 News – What Is Elex 2 All About?

Elex 2 News

Developed by Piranha Bytes – the very same group of clever folk that brought us the Gothic games and the previous Elex, Elex 2 whisks players off to the far-flung science fiction world of Magalan, as the menacing Skyands threaten to subjugate the denizens of the planet.

Once more putting players into the boots of rough ‘n’ gruff protagonist Jax it’s a third-person, open world RPG that tasks our hero with putting a foot into the bums of these aggressors in short order. In practice the game has you getting stuck into a whole heap of third-person combat, chatting to NPCs, making decisions that affect the overall story and taking on side quests. Additionally for the uninitiated, ‘Elex’ is more than just a fancy title – it also serves as a super powerful raw material that can be used to infuse objects with great power. Neat.

Elex 2 Gameplay – What Are The Factions In Elex 2?

Elex 2 Factions

Being something of a sprawling open world RPG, it probably shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that the game has a fair number of factions that the player will interact with over the course of the game. The six different Elex 2 factions are as follows:

Skyands

The game’s big bads, the Skyands descended from the sky and immediately began to murder, imprison and infect everything in sight. Equipped with a deadly dark variation of Elex, whomever doesn’t die from exposure to the Dark Elex, is soon turned into a Skyand, adding themselves to the ranks of the very invaders that they tried to stop. Boasting superhuman strength, genius level intellect and a highly advanced armoury, the Skyands have no creed, political stance, moral compass or any other social measuring tool that one would typically use to qualify a civilization. Instead they’re of a single mind to murder and subjugate everything and everyone.

The Albs

Created by a divergent group of Clerics, the Albs decided to eschew the core tenant of the Clerics which prescribed that consumption of Elex should only be used to power inanimate objects. Instead, the Albs went on to consume Elex endlessly, becoming tremendously powerful but losing their emotions and empathy in the process. Unfortunately, this left the Albs open to corruption by the Hybrids – the baddies from the first Elex, who wielded the Albs as a terrible weapon with which to lay waste to much of Magalan. Learning from past mistakes, a sub-faction has emerged within the Albs that recognises the need to ease back on the consumption of Elex in a bid to reintegrate themselves back into civilisation.

The Berserkers

Locked into a death struggle with the Albs, the relatively primitive Berserkers are an almost feral, technologically devolved faction that have been traditionally more concerned with matters of the spirit, rather than those of modernity. In recent times however, a schism has begun to form in the group, with one side being led by a spiritual leader that believes she can ‘talk’ to the Elex and the other being exclusively concerned with having the Berserkers embrace modern technology in order to secure their place in the world.

The Clerics

A deeply unappealing mixture of vomit-inducing self-righteousness and an unhealthy obsession with crafting some of the nastiest plasma weapons you’ll ever see, though the Clerics are the smallest of the six factions, their zeal for religious dogma and reducing unbelievers to ash makes them extremely dangerous indeed.

The Morkons

Developing into an isolationist tribe of subterranean scavengers after a meteor struck Magalan, the Morkons found themselves becoming increasingly desperate thanks in no small part to the dwindling availability of food. Emboldened by this scarcity, the leaders of the Morkons set into stone a number of draconian rules that cannot be broken at any cost – a fact that has caused many a wayward traveller to come unstuck before promptly being shuffled off their mortal coil.

The Outlaws

Rather than being driven by anything remotely approaching high-minded ideals, the Outlaws are a group of really rather bad folks that are all about accruing as much Elex as possible to produce narcotic stims to keep an addictive high going indefinitely. With such a singular goal, it should come as little surprise that this ragtag group of drug abusers and dealers spend more time turning on each other to accumulate that all-important Elex, rather than being concerned with more worldly matters that exist outside of their narrow spheres of narcotic addiction.

How Does Combat Work?

Elex 2 Combat

Like Elex before it, Elex 2 is all about that third-person enemy smacking goodness. With a broad range of melee and ranged weapons available to the player, which includes the likes of bows, axes, guns, rocket launchers and more, it’s fair to say that it provides players with a decent amount of choice when it comes to putting Jax’s enemies six feet under.

Neatly complimenting Elex 2’s selection of ranged and melee weapons, Jax can also leverage a whole range of Psi powers as well (think of the Biotic skills from Mass Effect and you’re basically there) to freeze, shock, stun or immolate the Skyand horde.

What About Elex 2’s Jetpack?

Elex 2 Jetpack

Once more improving upon its predecessor, Elex 2 brings back the jetpack that Jax would use to fly around the game world in the first game. However, not only has its use in combat been greatly expanded to allow our protagonist to rain damage upon his unfortunate foes, but the jetpack itself can be substantially upgraded – resulting in higher speed, more efficient fuel consumption and more besides.

Destiny 2: The Witch Queen Gameplay and Throne World Campaign

A sweeping campaign with no shortage of sweep and spectacle, the campaign that the Destiny 2 Witch Queen expansion brings to the table is set to be the biggest campaign that Bungie have created to date.

Thrusting players into the depths of Savathun’s domain, the Witch Queen’s campaign has players tangling with her Lucent Brood – a conclave of Light-powered soldiers that refuse to stay down all the while compelling them to unravel the mystery behind Destiny 2’s most fearsome foe.

Of course, no new Destiny 2 campaign would feel quite complete without boasting an all-new raid for players to sink their teeth into and Bungie is more than happy to oblige with the new Sunken Pyramid raid coming in the new expansion.

Void 3.0 New Aspects

Destiny 2: The Witch Queen Void 3.0 Aspects

One of the biggest game-changers that this expansion pulls off is Void 3.0, an all-new array of class based Aspects and more generalised Fragments that players can use to turn the tables on the hugely challenging Lucent Brood and their queen. The Destiny 2 Witch Queen Void 3.0 Aspects are as follows for each of the main classes:

Hunter Void 3.0 Aspects

  • Stylish Executioner (If a Void afflicted target is destroyed, the player gains Truesight and invisibility)
  • Trapper’s Ambush (When Quickfall is activated players can create a smoke cloud on impact that makes allies invisible and weakens enemies)
  • Vanishing Step (Whenever Dodge is triggered the Hunter becomes invisible)

Titan Void 3.0 Aspects

  • Bastion (Provides an overshield for the player and close allies whenever Barricade is cast)
  • Controlled Demolition (Striking a target with a Void detonation or ability will give them volatile status)
  • Offensive Bulwark (Grenades charge faster when overshield is engaged or player is stood inside Ward of Dawn)

Warlock Void 3.0 Aspects

  • Chaos Accelerant (Axion Bolt, Magnetic grenades, Scatter and Vortex can all now be overcharged)
  • Child of the Old Gods (Creating a Rift causes a Void Soul to attach itself to the player which charges towards enemies and self-destructs as soon as damage is dealt)
  • Feed the Void (As soon as a foe is destroyed by a Void ability, Devour is activated)

Void 3.0 New Fragments

Destiny 2: The Witch Queen Void 3.0 Fragments

Neatly accompanying the fresh new Aspects that Void 3.0 brings to Destiny 2, the Witch Queen expansion also brings a range of new Fragments as well that together with the aforementioned Aspects, allow players the substantial creative latitude to create their own precise, finely tuned build. The current list of Void 3.0 fragments is as follows:

  • Echo of Domineering (Provides a massive increase in movement speed if a target is suppressed)
  • Echo of Exchange (Grenade energy is gained from each successful melee attack)
  • Echo of Expulsion (Any enemy destroyed by a Void ability explodes and grants a buff to Intellect)
  • Echo of Provision (A portion of damage done by grenades translates into additional melee energy)
  • Echo of Remnants (All persistent grenade effects last longer after detonation)
  • Echo of Reprisal (Each final strike landed when adjacent to multiple enemies provides extra super energy)
  • Echo of Undermining (Void grenades provide an additional weakness debuff to foes)

The Glaive

Destiny 2: The Witch Queen Glaive

An all new weapon archetype, the fearsome Glaive is an horrifically powerful melee weapon that once sufficiently improved can lob energy attacks at far away foes, unleash extraordinarily powerful combinations and even conjure an immensely durable energy shield. Destiny 2’s equivalent of a swiss knife then? Yep.

Weapon Crafting

Destiny 2: The Witch Queen weapon crafting

Arguably one of the biggest new features that the Destiny 2 Witch Queen expansion brings to the table is that players are now able to craft their own weapons. With Witch Queen’s all-new crafting system, Guardians can fashion their very own bits of highly damage dealing kit with a bespoke blend of shaders, advanced stats and mods. Players will be able to craft their own weapons as soon as they reach the Relic.

New Exotic Armour

Destiny 2: The Witch Queen Exotic Armor

Each of the three classes in Destiny 2 will be receiving all new sets of fancy exotic armour thanks to the Witch Queen expansion. The new exotic armour sets for the Hunter, Warlock and Titan classes are as follows:

  • Blight Ranger Helm (Hunter Armour)

5 Wordle Alternatives for PC

Everyone loves Wordle – and with good reason. It’s a masterpiece of tiny game design, with a built-in hook that makes you return every single day and it utilises social media in a  way that encourages a natural leaderboard between you and your friends. It’s delectably moreish and there’s no wonder why it’s managed to take over the world.

Let’s face it though, one Wordle a day isn’t enough. Here are some of our favourite word games and Wordle alternatives you can play right now on PC to take the sting out of having to wait a whole day to play again. Let’s sate that hunger for puzzles.

Scribblenauts Unlimited

Scribblenauts is a series that delights in using words in as playful a manner as possible. You take on the role of Maxwell as you explore a series of levels, grabbing Starites by completing tasks for NPCs and solving puzzles.

The main tool in your arsenal in Scribblenauts Unlimited is the ability to spell out the names of things and have them spawn into the world to be a part of your adventure. It’s a true sandbox in that regard, letting you experiment and explore this huge adventure, letting your playfulness shine.

It’s definitely not as fiendish as some of the games on this list and won’t have you swearing online after not getting the Wordle of the day, but it’s a brilliant way to explore and play with words. And who knows, maybe it’ll serve as the spark of inspiration you need for your next 5 letter starter word.

SUMICO – The Numbers Game

If you think about it, numbers are really just funny letters.

OK, that might not be entirely accurate, but puzzle games and numbers have a long history together and if you’ve done your Wordle today, why not try something a little different as a palate cleanser. SUMICO – The Numbers Game is a match three game that incorporates maths with an engaging and simply-to-pick up series of systems that help you work on your maths and puzzle skills for hours at a time.

The difficulty curve is the real draw to SUMICO, as you’ll start off and feel like a genius. It’s just some simple arithmetic, after all. Then it comes crashing down around you, you’ve made a mistake, you’ve run out of moves, you’ve locked yourself into a corner. After this comes mastery, you start seeing ways to chain together moves, and soon you’re earning three star results left right and centre.

SUMICO lets you both challenge yourself and relax all the same time and what you get out of it depends on what you’re looking for. If you’re tired of seeing letters floating in front of you, give numbers a try instead.

Lexica

What would happen if Scrabble and Sudoko had a child? Lexica is the unlikely progeny born of that illicit meeting and it’s just as intriguing as that sounds.

Like the very best puzzle games the idea behind Lexica is simple. You have a grid and a series of letters that you can slide along the vertical and horizontal axes. By doing this, you can combine letters into words. Get the right words, fill out the grid, and you’ve won.

Easy, right? Well with eight different difficulty levels with 288 puzzles to master, Lexica is a game that will test you to your limits, pushing your lexicon to breaking point. If you’ve Wordled out for the day, if you’ve seen the Wordle alternatives and decided that they’re just too simple for you, then Lexica may very well be the game you need to take your puzzling to the next level.

The Jackbox Party Pack

One of the key components of Wordle is the ability to share your wins, and losses, with everyone and take part in a global event. Why not take that experience and make it a little smaller, a little more raucous, and a little more varied?

The various Jackbox Party Packs are the best way to bring life to any gathering, filled with mini games that are sure to keep the party going into the wee hours. From You Don’t Know Jack to Job Job and Quiplash, there are tonnes of games to explore, meaning you’ll find the best game for your needs. More wordplay? More drawing? More quizzing? There’s something here for everyone, we guarantee it.

What’s better is that there’s just so many different party packs to choose from. Go on, take a peek, we’ll wait. Even if you get tired of one party pack (probably impossible but we suppose it can happen) you’ll still have a load more to take a look at.

Letter Quest: Grimm’s Journey Remastered

Finally, let’s bring together word-based puzzles and a delicious battle system together in Letter Quest: Grimm’s Journey Remastered. The grim reapers need your help to battle a series of monsters ranging from evil bunnies to ghosts, and there’s only one way to fight them.

With the power of words, of course.

By spelling out words using the letters provided you’ll score points, defeat enemies, unlock rewards, and smash your foes into the ground as you go on this epic letter journey. Letter Quest really puts the game into puzzle game, and with the addition of an endless mode and improved keyboard support you’ll find that this is a quest that never has to stop.

So the next time you need a new puzzle game or an alternative to Wordle, dive into one of the games above and enjoy our selection of games that are both something similar and also something fresh. If Wordle has unlocked the joy of puzzle games in you, expand your collection and see where puzzling can take you.

Everything You Need To Know About Horizon Forbidden West

Horizon Forbidden West is the sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, the open-world title from Guerilla Games and PlayStation Studios that established whip-smart, flame-haired Aloy as one of the most memorable icons of the previous console generation.

Certainly a marquee title for PlayStation Studios and a pre-emptive Game of the Year candidate in the books of many a scribbling critic, here’s everything you need to know about Horizon Forbidden West.

Horizon Forbidden West Release Date & Platforms – When And How Can I Play Horizon Forbidden West?

The Horizon Forbidden West release date has been confirmed as February 18, 2022. Horizon Forbidden West will be released for PS4 and PS5 consoles.

Brilliantly, if you own the PS4 version of Horizon Forbidden West, Sony are offering a free upgrade to the PS5 version of the game. Happy days eh?

Horizon Forbidden West PC Release – Is Horizon Forbidden West Coming To PC?

With the Horizon Forbidden West hype train now running at full steam, many folks have been asking if Horizon Forbidden West will be released on PC.

Well, as of right now Sony has not confirmed that Horizon Forbidden West will be released on PC. However, there are a whole heap of reasons why a Horizon Forbidden West PC release will almost certainly happen in the not so distant future.

Not only can PC gamers get the prequel, Horizon Zero Dawn, on PC (not releasing the sequel would be a bum move, let’s be honest), but Sony has recently realised that a whole heap of money can be made from PC gamers and so has committed to porting its extensive library of console exclusives to the platform.

The caveat being that the PlayStation version will be released first and the PC versions following later on. Indeed, aside from Horizon Zero Dawn, we’ve already seen impressive PC ports of Days Gone and God of War do the business, while the mightily impressive Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection is also set to hit PC later in 2022.

What is Horizon Forbidden West?

Developed by Guerilla Games and published by PlayStation Studios, Horizon Forbidden West is a third-person, open-world action RPG that is the sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn which was released on PC and PS4 platforms in 2022 and 2017 respectively.

Once more putting players in the well-worn boots of red-haired, bow-toting heroine Aloy, Horizon Forbidden West picks up right after the events chronicled in the first game and has players venturing into the titular Forbidden West to track down the mysterious Sylens and prevent an already shattered, but slowly healing world, from falling further into ruin.

Horizon Forbidden West Gameplay – What New Gadgets And Abilities Will Aloy Have?

In addition to being able to climb and traverse vertically challenging terrain more effortlessly than before and dive deep underwater, Horizon Forbidden West also provides our flame-haired hero with some neat new tools to play with as well.

First up is the ultra-handy Ropecaster which allows Aloy to target structural weaknesses in the environment, latch onto them and pull them free – resulting in walls being pulled down or ledges being made available for jumping onto. The Ropecaster can also be used to pull down chests and crates that would normally be out of reach, too.

The Shieldwing meanwhile gives Aloy the ability to glide long distances, permitting her to drop right into the middle of battle or reach otherwise inaccessible areas and locations.

Horizon Forbidden West Gameplay – How Big Is The Map?

Like Horizon Zero Dawn before it, Horizon Forbidden West boasts a sizable expanse of land for Aloy to cut across. Just how big is the Horizon Forbidden West map though? Well, in a recent interview with IGN, Mathijs de Jonge, the director of Horizon Forbidden West, stated that the map is actually “slightly larger” than the one seen in Horizon Zero Dawn.

Most notably, the title of the game also tips you off to the new setting of the sequel too, as Horizon Forbidden West takes in the west coast of the United States and a whole swathe of land around it.

Horizon Forbidden West Gameplay – What Skill Trees Are Available?

A returning feature, Horizon Forbidden West also features skill trees that facilitate Aloy’s progression through the game. However, Horizon Forbidden West does things a little differently to its predecessor in this regard, featuring six entirely different skill trees for players to tailor their playstyle – compared to just the four skill trees seen in Horizon Zero Dawn.

The Horizon Forbidden West skill trees are Warrior, which places a premium on melee attacks, Trapper, that places an emphasis on traps, Survivor, which deals with optimising herb gathering and health skills, Infiltrator, which concentrates on stealth, Hunter, which seeks to develop ranged skills and finally Machine Master, which deals with hacking and stunning enemies. Even better still, you’re not just locked into a particular skill tree and can put points here and there to craft your own unique build.

Horizon Forbidden West Gameplay – How Do Valor Surges Work?

Buried within each of the six skill trees in Horizon Forbidden West are special skills known as Valor Surges. From increasing attack power to providing a damage soaking shield and even enabling a form of invisibility, each Valor Surge can easily turn the tide of a heated battle, but must be used sparingly as it takes a while to build up the necessary Valor to use them again, though a number of skills in each tree can help with this.

It’s also worth noting that while Horizon Forbidden West allows players a fair amount of creative latitude when it comes to putting points into skill trees, Aloy can only have a single Valor Surge equipped at any one time. So choose your active Valor Surge skill wisely.

Horizon Forbidden West Gameplay – What New Machines Are There?

Arguably the stars of the Horizon franchise overall, the numerous wildlife mimicking robots return for Horizon Forbidden West, bringing a veritable array of new machine types along with them.

Boasting over twelve new machines for Aloy to face of with, the new machines that are in Horizon Forbidden West include Bristlebacks, Burrowers, Clamberjaws, Clawstriders, Chargers, Rollerbacks, Shellsnappers, Slitherfangs, Snapmaws, Sunwings, Tallnecks, Tiderippers and Tremortusks.

Everything You Need To Know About Elden Ring

Elden Ring is the next offering from From Software, the merry band of maddeningly talented folks behind the likes of Dark Souls, Bloodborne and most recently, the fantastic Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

Arguably one of the most highly anticipated games of the year and not to mention one of the most promising action RPGs to pop along in a good while, here’s everything you need to know about Elden Ring.

Elden Ring Release Date & Platforms – When And How Can I Play Elden Ring?

The Elden Ring release date has been confirmed as February 25, 2022. Elden Ring will be released on PC via Steam, in addition to PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One console platforms. So if you own basically any system that was released in the last seven years or so, you’re pretty much good to go for some Elden Ring goodness.

Elden Ring Trailer – Where Can I Find The Latest Trailer For Elden Ring?

There’s no doubt about it – Elden Ring is a sizable game to say the least, so it should come as little surprise that there isn’t just one Elden Ring trailer but instead a whole heap of them.

The latest Elden Ring trailer delves into the sprawling story that underpins its action RPG shenanigans – a tale that is jointly penned by From Software director Hidetaka Miyazaki and Game of Thrones author George R R Martin, no less.

You can catch the latest, story focused Elden Ring trailer below.

What Is Elden Ring?

Distilled to its core, Elden Ring is essentially the punishing action RPG beats of Dark Souls thrust out into a gloriously realised open world setting. As the Tarnished, an exiled warrior long left dead, Elden Ring has players roaming the vast Lands Between as they seek the power of the titular Elden Ring in order to become the Elden Lord.

In practice, this means you’ll be cutting across a gorgeously depicted land of destroyed beauty, as you raid dungeons absolutely brimming with danger and deadly threat at every turn and tackle epic bosses that’ll make you soil your undercrackers with reliable vigour.

Elden Ring Character Customisation

Much like the Dark Souls games that preceded it, Elden Ring prides itself on providing players with a substantial amount of creative latitude with which to craft their hero. Cosmetically speaking, players can fiddle with everything from character size and hair colour, all the way through to an impressive array of beards and numerous scars to choose from.

When it comes to the functional side of things, though Elden Ring has an array of different classes, how you choose to play your hero and the attributes that you choose to concentrate on, are all entirely up to (and driven by) you. Even better still, director Hidetaka Miyazaki recently said that additional skills would be earned by exploring the map and having a rollicking time doing so, rather than unlocking them from boring old skill trees as seen in the likes of Dark Souls and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

Elden Ring Gameplay – How Does Online Play Work?

Another key element of the Soulslike sub-genre that Elden Ring maintains is persistent online play and as you may have guessed, Elden Ring certainly doesn’t let players down in this regard either.

Making the most of its open world setting, Elden Ring not only has the ‘invisible presence’ mechanics of Dark Souls where players can leave messages and clues behind for others to find, but it also allows players to summon their friends to traverse and tackle the entirety of the Lands Between as an Awesome Twosome. Or something.

Elden Ring Gameplay – What Starting Classes Are Available?

Though Elden Ring embraces open world design for the first time ever in a From Software Soulslike effort, it’s reassuring to know that much of the essential game design bedrock of Dark Souls remains intact. Part of that enduring design is the class system – yes, Elden Ring does indeed have classes and the five main starting classes in Elden Ring are as follows.

Warrior

A real bruiser of a class that places a premium on the Dexterity stat, the Warrior is a spry combatant that employs a range of impressively agile strikes to get the job done. Starting off with two Scimitars, Medium Armour and a Buckler, the Warrior quickly proves to be a class with great potential – thanks in no small part to Sword Storm attacks that allow the Warrior to harass enemies at a distance.

Enchanted Knight

Much more than just an impressive looking hero, the Enchanted Knight soon proves to be a deft hybrid of Sorceries (essentially Elden Ring’s take on ‘magic’) and blunt force trauma, thanks in no small part to the Enchanted Knight’s ability to wear Heavy Armour and use equally Heavy Weapons. The Enchanted Knight kicks off their journey with a full suit of Heavy Armour and a deadly Winged Spear. So that’s nice.

Prophet

Essentially a take on the Cleric archetype seen in similar games, the Prophet wields the highest Faith and Mind stats out of any of the Elden Ring’s starting classes. This means that not only can they fling around healing and buffing spells around the place with aplomb, but they can do so for much longer than any class. The Prophet begins with Robes and a Club, but honestly, don’t let the fact the Prophet’s humble threads and embrace of Faith fool you, as it’s clear that given the chance they always choose violence.

Champion

Representing a satisfying blend of the Incantation based spells of the Prophet together with the up close and personal, smashmouth combat of the Warrior, the Champion looks to be a versatile, magically charged fighter that many players will likely pick. Starting the game with a powerful Dragonfire spell, Champion Armour and a hefty Battle Axe, the Champion is easily one of the best damage focused classes in Elden Ring.

Bloody Wolf

Not a literal bloody wolf (though I grant you, that too would also be cool), the Bloody Wolf is a devastating fighter that places a real focus on dealing out huge amounts of two-handed damage backed up by a gargantuan pool of health and damage mitigation to boot. Welcomingly familiar to anyone who has ever got stuck into the two-handed warrior playstyle seen in the Dark Souls games, the Bloody Wolf starts Elden Ring with Blood Wolf Armour and a huge Bastard Sword.

Elden Ring System Requirements – Is My PC Good Enough To Run Elden Ring?

The Best Video Games Based on Books

From The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt through to the likes of Discworld and Metro Exodus, some of the best video games you could ever hope to play have been based on books. We’ve decided to adjust our reading glasses and take a closer look at a selection of books that were turned into really rather good video games.

Conan Exiles

Best Video Games based on books - Conan Exiles

Based on Robert E. Howard’s Conan the Barbarian sword and sorcery tales, Funcom’s sword swinging, monster mashing, survival MMO does a grand job of encapsulating the stark and brutal world that Howard envisioned when the first Conan the Barbarian story went to press all the way back in 1950.

Cast out into a savage, unforgiving world, Conan Exiles has players first learning how to keep themselves alive in one of the most hostile video game sandboxes ever constructed before working out how to craft, fight and build an empire to stand the test of time in order to lay waste to their enemies and other players. Y’know – just like a real barbarian would do.

Discworld

Best Video Games based on books - Discworld

A traditional point and click adventure, Discworld is based on the titular comedy fantasy novels by the late and very great Terry Pratchett. Somewhat based on Pratchett’s Guards! Guards! Discworld story, the game tasks players with preventing a rampaging dragon from destroying the fantastical city of Ankh-Morpork by collecting items, solving puzzles and speaking to all manner of colourful (and often frightfully nutty) characters.

With longtime Discworld protagonist Rincewind voiced by Monty Python mainstay Eric Idle and boasting much of the whip smart comedy and dialogue that made the source material so compelling in the first place, Discworld is well worth tracking down.

Metro Exodus

Best Video Games based on books - Metro Exodus

Written by Russian author Dmitry Glukhovsky, the Metro novels depicted a post-apocalyptic hellscape in which a group of survivors attempt to survive within the confines of the Moscow Metro subway system. Obviously representing perfect video game material, Ukrainian developer 4A Studios has since adapted no less than three first person shooter efforts from the Metro novels.

The latest of these, Metro Exodus, is a stunning affair that not only deftly evokes the tense, post-apocalyptic vibes of the novels but also fashions a truly terrifying survival horror shooter in the process too.

Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments

Best Video Games based on books - Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments

Arguably one of the best Sherlock Holmes games ever made, Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments does ample justice to Arthur Conan Doyle’s legendary super-sleuth. With six very different cases to solve, Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments excels in making players feel just like the pride of Baker Street, allowing them full access to Sherlock’s range of forensic detective skills and cheeky sense of humour.

Whether you’re researching old journals, leveraging powers of deduction at a crime scene, performing an interrogation or using Sherlock’s uncanny insight to pick out the smallest incriminating detail on a suspect’s appearance, Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments does justice to its world famous source material with aplomb.

Spec Ops: The Line

Best Video Games based on books - Spec Ops: The Line

Loosely based on Joseph Conrad’s 1899 fictional classic Heart of Darkness and much like later movies such as 1979’s Apocalypse Now and more recently, 2019’s Ad Astra, third-person shooter Spec Ops: The Line uses the basis of Conrad’s story to shape its narrative (it’s no coincidence that the main antagonist has the name ‘John Konrad). Like Heart of Darkness itself, Spec Ops: The Line mediates heavily on the human condition and specifically how, as we become further removed from civilization both physically and emotionally, the pull of our more base and savage instincts becomes irresistible.

With its post-apocalyptic Dubai setting, extremely intense story beats and superlative cover shooter gameplay, it’s no surprise that Spec Ops: The Line boasts a sizable following to say the least.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Best Video Games based on books - The Witcher 3

CD Projekt RED’s sprawling open world RPG epic wasn’t created in vacuum. Based on the Witcher fantasy books authored by Polish scribe Andrzej Sapkowski, the Witcher games have done a fantastic job of bringing Sapkowski’s dark fantasy epic into the medium of video games and nowhere is this more evident than in the most recent Witcher title, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

An absolutely stonking adventure with sweep and spectacle to spare, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a beautifully scripted, enduringly attractive and endlessly deep open world RPG that you’ll never want to end.

No matter how you slice it, the world of literature is a fecund field for video game inspiration. For your next game purchase, why not fill out your catalogue with a copy of Spec Ops: The Line and experience a game that explores game narratives in a way you’ve never seen before.

The Best Moments and Choices from Life is Strange

Life is Strange not only delivered some truly memorable story moments, but also did an amazing job of creating a world that felt real. Reliving the highs and lows of high school, making friends, memories and having to deal with the harsh realities of the world are all portrayed in ways that have stayed with us since the game released back in 2015.

Now that Life is Strange Remastered is just around the corner let’s take a look back at some of the best moments from Life is Strange.

Spoilers ahead so step carefully.

Chloe’s Room

Set to the melancholic tones of Piano Fire by Sparklehorse. Max and Chloe look to reconcile their friendships after years of being apart. The scene transports them back to easier, less complicated times. Chole letting loose and dancing in her bedroom brings a sense of nostalgia and longing for those better days. Max’s awkwardness starts to fade away and their fractured friendship is on the mend. It’s only a brief moment bathed in the orange glow like a summer’s sunset on the beach, before the moment is shattered, but it’s enough to engross us.

Saving Kate

Life is Strange is all about making choices in the moment. Trying to do the right thing, or what you feel might be the right thing. One of the Life is Strange best choices or series of choices leads to you saving Kate Marsh. Kate has long been bullied by her classmates and in the end it becomes too much. Based on your choices up to this point Max can save Kate. It’s a dark and emotional moment that brings to light the fragility of growing up and how tough it can be. Knowing you were able to alter the course for the better is one of the best feelings in the game.

Butterfly Effects

Life is Strange is known for its reality bending and timeline hopping events. One of the most poignant ones is when you can change William’s fate so that he doesn’t die in the car accident. The consequence of that is finding out that Chloe is paralysed in her own accident on a different timeline. Making this scene even more impactful is discovering that Chloe is slowly dying as a result and doesn’t have long left. It’s a brutal twist that sends you through a whole wave of emotions.

Rachel

Finally, we come to the investigation into the disappearance of Rachel. Everything about this, from the discovery of the dark room to the events surrounding the fate of Rachel is seared into our memories. Max’s braveness in the face of evil, combined with Chloe’s realisation of what’s happened, makes this not only one of the best and most impactful moments in Life is Strange, but one of the most memorable moments in any game.

These are only a handful of the choices and moments you can experience in Life is Strange. Pre-purchase Life is Strange Remastered here and prepare to be immersed in one of the finest narrative games ever created all over again.

REACT Tech brings new tools and weaponry in your fight against the Archæans. Pick from a number of tools such as the Field Wall which deploys a barrier that stops enemy projectiles. Or the REACT Light, a powerful tool that allows you to spot Archæans through walls by activating their bioluminescence.

Alien Threats in Rainbow Six Extraction

Whilst fighting in the 12 different locations across the US you will be facing 10+ aliens threats. Each Archæan will act differently and has varying attacks that you’ll need to combat. The Sower sets binding traps that will trap players. The Tormentor is capable of firing a barrage of projectiles. The Lurker can make itself and other aliens invisible to you. Then you have the formidable Apex who can summon all other Archæans to fight by its side.

There is a lot of variety in the enemy design, so getting to know your enemies and how to deal with them most effectively will be crucial.

Overall, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction is an interesting melting pot of ideas that looks set to take the series in a fascinating new direction and may be the kickstart that 2022 needs.

If you need to get up to speed on the Rainbow Six series, why not dive into Rainbow Six: Siege, the award winning multiplayer shooter that’s taken the world by storm.

What to expect from God of War’s first outing on PC

There’s no getting around it – God of War coming to PC is a properly massive event. Indeed, no longer will PC gamers have to gaze with envious eyes at their PlayStation siblings because as of January 2022, Kratos will be bringing his particularly compelling blend of hi-octane brutality and miserable dad energy to PC gamers at last. What should we expect from God of War’s first outing on PC then? Well, I’m glad you asked.

Massively Enhanced Visuals

Starting with the numerous improvements that God of War PC boasts over its PS4 counterpart, God of War’s leap to PC has brought with it a veritable raft of visual upgrades that simply weren’t possible on Sony’s last generation console. Boasting native 4K resolution visuals, in addition to greatly improved reflections, higher resolution shadows and unlocked framerates, this is absolutely the very best God of War has ever looked (and it was no slouch to begin with).

God of War PC Brings an All-New Ultra-Wide Presentation

From the awe-inspiring sense of sweep and scale, not to mention its embrace of the same ‘single take’ cinematography trick recently leveraged by Sam Mendes’ superb WW1 jaunt, God of War is an authentic cinematic experience that cribs as much from the silver screen as it does from anywhere else. As such, the addition of an ultra-wide display option in the 21:9 ratio means that all of those cinematic qualities will be magnified duly, allowing players to fully immerse themselves in an eye-opening expansion of God of War’s visual presentation.

An Epic Foray Into Norse Mythology Like No Other

Another reason why God of War has lingered so long in the consciousness of gamers around the world is its full-throated and unflinching take on Norse mythology. Beautifully depicting an expansive range of realms from a pre-Viking era, God of War’s take on Norse mythology is very much rooted in the gods and monsters of those stories, as Kratos tangles with all manner of ogres, trolls, Valkyries and much, much more besides. Quite simply, if you’re looking to utterly fill your boots with all manner of vengeful Norse gods and monsters, then God of War will absolutely be your huckleberry.

A Surprisingly Touching And Emotional Tale

Though Kratos earns every bit of his titular moniker as the savage God of War, his PC debut presents players with something approaching a softer side for its protagonist; making him a much more complex character rather than the largely one-dimensional, angry bearded man he was in previous games. Emotionally anchored by his son Atreus, who wants nothing more than to earn the respect of his big, gruff dad, we begin to see layers peel off of Kratos, gradually revealing the damaged and ironically rather human soul that lurks beneath his seemingly ironclad exterior. Don’t believe us? Check out what we had to say about it way back in 2018.

One Of The Best Designed Action RPGs Ever Made

There’s a reason why when it was released on PlayStation 4 back in 2018 that God of War won over 30 Game of the Year awards from numerous publications. Encompassing a pitch-perfect blend of sophisticated combat, compelling exploration, deep progression and enough secrets to keep you searching long after the credits have completed their roll, God of War’s 2018 incarnation takes the best tenets of a timeless action RPG such as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and fashions a Game of the Generation level spectacle from them.

If you’re getting ready to go Norse with God of War on PC, head over to our store and grab it today – you’ll soon be shouting BOY with the best of them.
